Tua Tagovailoa is getting zero respect and that’s wrong

I honestly don't understand the hate, disrespect and doubt that Tua has on him from the media, fans of other teams and Dolphins fans too.

For years all anyone ever said was how great of a quarterback prospect he was, how he was destined to be the #1 overall pick, how he would for sure be a star and that he was worth "tanking" for. While the Dolphins won't ever say they tanked 2019, and Flores and the team certainly played to win every game, the front office did strip the team enough that I am sure they thought they would be in contention for the top pick and Tua. After Miami won some games everyone was saying how the Dolphins blew their shot at Tua because now he would likely be going to the Bengals. Then Tua got seriously injured and the injury concerns started to grow, understandably, but that was the main reason he fell from being the consensus #1 overall pick right into the Dolphins lap at #5.

It seemed like if Tua could fully recover from the hip injury that people still believed everything that was said prior. He seems to be well on his way to a full recovery and the fact that he was healthy enough to play this last season and at a winning level was very impressive. He also spent all of last offseason rehabbing, not really training his body. This offseason he is back to being able to train and we are already starting to see some of the physical pay off in those photos he posted.

Everyone always seemed to say he had the "It" factor, now that he is with the Dolphins, people are coming out of the woodwork to say he doesn't, with some media people like that Chris Simms or Mike Lombardi saying he never had elite skills and will now be a NFL bust. Colin Cowherd, who changes his mind hourly on everything in the NFL, now claims that Tua does nothing special and doesn't see greatness.

Most people seem to think Tua was awful in 2020. Yet he was 6-3 as a starter, had 11 passing touchdowns and only 5 interceptions, plus another 3 rushing touchdowns in just 9 games. Tua also controlled that game against the Cardinals in a shootout and he was probably the main reason they won that contest. I could understand doubt if he threw more interceptions than touchdowns and looked really bad, but he didn't. His stats were better than Hurts, not all that much different than Burrow and obviously Herbert put up much better stats than anyone (granted his year was all about the stats, just wasn't able to win many games). His rookie year was also better than Josh Allen's rookie year and the media now loves him, but they also gave him three seasons. They only give Tua 9 games.

I actually saw a Twitter poll asking people to rank the top 4 quarterbacks of Burrow, Tua, Herbert and Hurts of what they think their success will be in 2021 and there was a lot of combinations between the top 3 rankings, but ever single one had Tua at #4. Seriously?

I just don't understand how a lot of people thought he was the absolute greatest up until the Dolphins drafted him. Now he is awful and apparently was never good to begin with. I really don't understand the hate.
Hate is too much of a strong word. But 'doubt' is appropriate. Nothing has proved he is a 'cant miss'. You believe he will flourish into a top flight qb and thats fine. But you cannot argue that Tua in his first half season he has not confirmed to the football world he will be a top tier qb.

It's called Herbert's Syndrome. It's curable with weaponry and protection. Tua will be just fine.
That and the fact that Watson could become available. It would be so rare for a 26-year-old quarterback, whose already top 5 in the league, to being traded.

Fact is, Tua had a promising rookie year. He had his up and downs, but if you look at his best moments those are what we should see more of. Of course, adding talent around him will help.

It is what it is at this point, but tua was going to be drafted by us or L.A. regardless. It's crazy how much flip-flopping goes on with this kid. Hell he was a consensus top five or six pick even if he had to red shirt the entire season, but since he had the self drive and motivation to actually come back ahead of schedule this season, his remarkable rehab is dismissed because of not so great performance at times. I guess he would have been better off just sitting the entire season learning and rehabbing his body. The only opinions about Tua that matter to me outside of our coaching staff are the fans that actually watch him with an open mind, rather than just check the scores on their phones. I for one expect the kid to make tremendous strides with his body, he's not going to all of a sudden become a subpar quarterback when he gets fully healthy. The film doesn't lie prior to his injury he was special, and it's just a matter of time until he becomes special again.

Chris Simms? Lol, he is tied with Tannenbaum as the worst.

Those two are so bad they have to talk down on somebody to feel better about themselves, and it still want work. Nobody likes or cares about either of them including themselves

Tua had a way better than average rookie season all things considered. the guy was heading into the last game with a 10/2 TD/INT ratio and a winning record. I think the Buf game left a bad taste but the whole team got crushed and the offense was playing with practice squad material at the skill positions.

Im not trying to tell anyone Tua proved anything this year, but I sure as hell dont remember a rookie QB getting crushed by the media like this after that type of rookie season with that type of supporting cast.

Tua threw for 11 TDs and rushed for 3 TDs in his "flop" of a rookie season. Simms threw for 12 TDs in his entire career - he must say some pretty horrible things to himself when he looks in the mirror.

Tua was a Football God then he went to the Dolphin's. We're hated and it spills over to our players. All we have to do is win a Championship and it'll stop.

Let me preface this by saying, "Eff Chris Simms."

That said...I'm led to ask you how many TD's in the NFL have you thrown to have an opinion on Chris Simms career?

Simms has 0 credibility. He was a horrible QB.
Being a bad qb and lacking knowledge of the game are too different things. Many good qbs have also been terrible in the front office. John Elway is a hof qb and yet he can't find a viable qb to save his life since Peyton Manning retired.

We all throw around opinions like you are now. It doesn't matter if anyone here threw any tds in the NFL. We just don't get paid for it like Simms. He's just stupid.

"He's just stupid?"

Is that your final answer?
