Tua Tagovailoa's draft stock following injury

There are a LOT of teams who have traditionally refused to draft anyone without a clear medical report. ...and even more teams that won't draft undersized players.

Tua has gone from slam-dunk to a third day prospect on many team's boards. Add in the 5-10 teams who are not interested in drafting a QB this year and Tua's market hasn't completely dried up, but it is greatly reduced. He is now on the clearance aisle and is waiting for the right buyer.

With his injury profile and what would happen to him if he went back to school and was injured again (he'd be done), he ought to declare for the draft and take what money he can get. Take lower dollars and be prepared to sit for a year or two.

I wish him well... but in Tampa or Chicago.

He cannot stay healthy in college, how in the hell would he survive the NFL.

I don't think he can and I wouldn't draft him before the third day.

But there are those who still believe... there have been at least five posters who still think we might take him with our first pick. I think they are nuts, but hope is eternal.

Been looking into his injury and based on the feedback of experts

the kids career is DEFINITELY in jeopardy. His injury is actually worse

than what Bo suffered -- tho the technology today is decidedly better...

But Tua is facing surgery -- and it's probably rather severe.

It seems recovery (at best) is way down the road and there are

significant risks to the long term viability of the joint -- especially

when you're factoring in a "professional athlete" regiment.

Here are 2 videos that seem quite illuminating on this subject...

Two schools of thought on this.

1. He goes back to Bama, gets healthy rehabilitates his body(and draft stock) and goes pro next year.

2. He comes out this spring, shows enough progress to be drafted and puts himself in the hands of an NFL teams medical and training staff(as opposed to a college one)and starts getting paid over that table. This is what Jaylon Smith did.

IF it looks like he will fully recover I would advise option 2.

Yes... but read the threads.

I could name names, but that would provoke needless confrontation.

There are quite a few who refuse to let go of their dream.
It's like evidence just doesn't matter.

if you guys would watch the videos I just posted you'll know

ain't NO WAY this kid is still in R1 territory because his injury

was a full blown dislocation (worse that Bo Jackson) + fracture

and the degree of fracture is not specified yet -- but he's got a

LONG RECOVERY post surgery...

His NFL career is anything but guaranteed at this point...

More like a spec pick R3...

"recovery" outcome is well beyond the draft envelop.

And we're takin' his ability to EVER compete as a PRO.

There's ZERO chance any team is going to invest an R1. I doubt an R2

UNLESS the news after the surgery is absolute best case scenario.

But the truth is -- he suffered a brutal injury -- worse than Bo Jackson -- and

love the kid or not it sucks at the highest order for him -- and let's be

compassionate -- for his fans!

It really blows on so many levels that this happened...

Veeery interested in his decision now. IF he decides to come out, how far do we think he falls?

Honestly don't know what the best route is for his future. So unfortunate how this season has almost certainly changed the trajectory of this kid's future.

Just hearing about this injury makes my hip hurt. Absolutely gruesome. Football aside, I just hope the guy is able to recover enough to enjoy his life with minimal pain.
