Tua's Next. Be prepared.

Ross has been one of the biggest spenders in free agency and he has never balked at signing players to big contracts.
This might have been a case where both sides were waiting to see how much Lawrence signed for. The Dolphins were probably hoping it would be for a lot less than he ended up signing for and Tua and his agent were hoping it would be for well over $50 million a year.

Tua and his agent won and now the Dolphins are just going to have to pay up or risk losing him in free agency to another team that will be happy to pay him the money he deserves.
I think the deal is done I think they are just working on the details

I don't like this one bit. There's no way this is good for negotiations.

I'm thinking to myself if Grier is stupid enough to let all these signings occur or that he doesn't care because he is seriously prepared to play hard ball and let Tua play out his contract.

Dude, I don't believe Tua has earned an outrageous contract but at this point I'd be more pissed if they'd decide the alternative to giving him one.

I'm not sure about that. Most would have Mahomes, Allen, Jackson and Burrow in the top 4. Herbert might get some votes for the 5th spot, but so would Herbert, Tua and Stroud. And those are just the AFC qbs.

Based on their play on the field I would say Tua deserves just as much money as Lawrence.
Lamar wouldn't be in that conversation.

If the dolphins wanted to be dicks . They have control over him for 2024 ,2025 AND 2026 . A simple google search would tell you that

Sad. If Miami takes that approach, it will not be good for Miami. It is what it is.

I don’t think Grier is that kind of a deek so not an issue.

If Tua doesn't reach a deal within the next couple weeks then I fully expect no deal is coming for Tua this off season. Tua will bet on himself and Grier will stand firm. I think Tua loses the bet.

I think you will be wrong. I expect you to come back and fall on your sword when that happens.

They don’t really without completely gutting the roster.

The franchise tag next season is $42M. Just how do the Dolphins fit that in if Tua signs the tag straight away? There is no way the Dolphins are cap compliant in March with a $42M cap charge added without cutting multiple starters. It’s just not feasible.

If Tua plays his 5th year option we lose him next season to someone who is QB desperate for a 3rd round comp pick and looking like the biggest dumbasses in the NFL.

I’m very pro Tua, but if his camp is pushing for top end of the market money (53+ million annually), Grier will not be going for it at all. Tua’s AAV needs to start with a 4.
Unbelievable that people can still have this standpoint. Talk about completely misreading the market.

If Grier thinks the AAV starts with a 4 then he better be prepared to draft a QB late in the first next season and hope it all works out somehow for him to keep his job.
