I think the problem with any ranking system and a long term contract is "what have you done for me lately-ism."

Look no further to Tua coming off '23 vs '22. What's the difference in those deals? Across sports, teams often get duped paying big for outlier seasons in contract years.
Specifically what teams have gotten duped paying big for outlier QB seasons in the NFL recently? We’ve identified 20% as of late. Watson, Murray, and Jones. How is that “often?” Do you think it makes sense to tend towards the 80% rule or the 20% exception?

Brogs...

Man your posts are fun... and I like that. I am not going to go too deep into this.

your post was garbage.

I won't attack you brother. You have further education then myself. Most certainly doesn't make you smarter .

No you are incorrect.

It's already been established that Grier would NOT have traded down to 12 if he did not have the deal in place to trade back up to 6.

This is something some conveniently forget.

Also, you want to knock Tua for having Hill. Some of you make Hill out to e some ungodly WR that is a mythical beast.

So my point is simple. You seem to discredit Tua for having Hill. But want to bury him when he had one of the leagues worst o lines in the game and zero help at the WR position.

So which is it? Is a QB supposed to be graded based on the talent he has or not? Does this standard apply to every other QB in the league? Or just Tua?

Tua had a lot of help last year on offence, including a top ranked rushing O. Hill is a unicorn, which is why he could be headed to the HOF.

Waddle is a #1 WR on a lot of teams, including at least 2 in our own division.

This argument comes up all the time, and I’m never sure where I stand in terms of my opinion on it, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that for me at least, the best way to think about it is that perhaps Tua does need a bit more upper echelon talent at the skill positions to excel than some other QBs, but if that is the case is that really a bad thing if Tua with those weapons is a top 10 QB?

We’ve seen that it takes more than just any old QB to succeed in this offense, so maybe the Dolphins end up needing to spend a bit more than other teams at those postions to make the offense work the way they want with Tua, and maybe that hamstrings Miami a bit at other positions, but perhaps the trade off is worth it given the outsized value of a highly productive QB in the NFL combined with their scarcity. And that’s if it even turns out that he does need those things. Or maybe it turns out that he needs too many of those things to make it possible to stick with him.

Maybe I’m thinking about it wrong, and I’m certainly not of the opinion that Tua is definitely the QB of the future, at least not yet, but he has something. It’s shades of grey I think, and I’m stuck somewhere in the middle.
