There's another side to this, and that's the player's side. Tua's agent is not going to set a precedent for future top-tier QBs to re-sign at a discount and lose millions of dollars.

Is the amount that Tua signs for going to impact how hard Dolphin fans should root for him and the team to be successful? Is a few million a year going to have a significant impact on the Dolphins' ability to field a SB caliber roster? IMO, the answer to both is no. Just pay that man his money and everyone can just focus on winning.

So, he is under contract , and if he leads the team to a good season a year from now the Dolphins can offer him a new contract . Or, if his performance is not good the Dolphins can move forward with a different quarterback. It's a win-win situation for the Dolphins.
