You were talking about what other teams would be lining up for his services. I was just saying your statement was an oversimplification. There may be multiple teams that would be interested. How many would be interested at a top 3 contract is a different matter.

If I had to bet real $?

We will announce an extension. It will be a PR "event" when the time is right, and all parties will stand at the podium an smile ear to ear.

Meh, many things here are not right or wrong. It's opinions. None of us know the future.

Tua could win MVP on his way to a Championship, or he could be knocked out for the year before the bye week.

Speaking of the non-exclusive franchise tag. How many teams would really give up 2 number one draft picks to make Tua a top three paid quarterback in the league?

I also wonder what two is agent was thinking at the end of last year pay. Was he saying to us should get 50 million per year and we were bulking at that?

And now after several quarterbacks have gotten paid 55 million per year, is his agent now saying Tua is worth 56. We really don’t know what’s going on behind-the-scenes or how the numbers have changed over the past several months.

All we can do is wait and see how things shake out. Hopefully they shake out for what’s best of the team.

Prior to the recent draft I figured a team would offer their 3rd or 4th round pick in exchange for Tua.
As it played out the Steelers gave a 6th round pick in exchange for Justin Fields.
My guess is that had the Jaguars shopped Trevor Lawrence a team would have offered their 3rd round pick, maybe 2nd rounder.
Tua's 2022 season concussions I believe are a major reason other teams would be hesitant to sign him to a long term guaranteed money contract, and that is probably a primary concern of the Dolphins management.

Not one team even entertained Lamar Jackson so not sure of your point.

That kind of decision falls on Tua alone, regardless of what his agent may think.

Now, I really don't see that happening because I think Tua is the type that has honor, but that's a big boy decision that he and his wife have to make, and are responsible to make, for themselves.

If it happens and ppl try to act as if it was an agent in his ear telling him what to do, you would be wrongly absolving the player from his personal responsibility in that type of decision.

Depends on who it is, how old they are, how consistent they have been, etc.

In this case I have my doubts. Not because I dislike Tua, but because I think, for one thing, there are many GMs who prefer bigger, stronger, faster. For another, not every coach has a philosophy similar to McDs. For another, it would depend a lot on where a particular team was at in the building process. For example, if they see themselves a a couple years away from being Championship competitive, it really wouldn't make sense to go that direction.

Here's my confusion. If he signs now for $50mm, that's $25mm more than the 5th yr option. Yeah, he gets 5mm less per yr for 5 yrs, but $25mm more this yr and a new contract a yr sooner. I see no big difference

Seriously.

The majority of teams that pony up in the new market for QB's will never make the superbowl.

So the response should be: "Yeah well when one of those QB's that just signed makes it to the superbowl, I will concede to your argument about the market." Our objective is to win a Superbowl.... We do not care what lesser teams pay their QB's
