Undervalued Players

118. Andre Smith TE Virginia Tech 6'4" 271lbs.
Strengths
Player on the rise. A very tough, durable guy who is a huge special teams help. Has become a very good ST tackler. Improved blocker who is settling in to a solid pro technique as a blocker. Nice set up and recoil as a pass protector. Pretty good speed to get down the seam and stretch the safeties. Decent routes. Decent hands. Excellent lateral agility and overall movement skills. Gets off the line quickly and into his breaks smoothly and with alacrity for such a big man.
Weaknesses
Still a bit of a gentle pusher and prefers to wall-off rather than to bury people on the edge as a blocker. No killer. Seals better to the inside when line up on the right side of the LOS than on the left. Misses when cut blocking. Only decent hand usage. Not thrown too much, and hands are still a question mark entering the draft. Has not been in a passing offense.
Projection
6-7th rounder who is a huge sleeper at tight end in my opinion, but could still go undrafted. ST resume/ability guarantees him a roster spot if he goes to a team that lacks talent at TE.

119. Doug Hogue OLB Syracuse 6'3" 235lbs.
Hogue started his collegiate career with the Orangemen at RB. Only in the last 2 season has he made the transition to OLB. He is a superior athlete. Ran a 4.62/40 at the combine including a 10.01 BJ, and a 36 Vert. In 2010, he lead the team in tackles with 89 with 9.5 TFLs, 2ints., 3 sacks, and a blocked kick. He has instincts and toughness for the LB position. Great change of direction, flows to the ball well, and is above avg. in passing situations. He has a great 1st step off the edge. Hogue is still raw and will have a learning curve, but is seen as huge sleeper at the position. There are still questions as to if he is a 4-3 or 3-4 OLB. He is more of a pass rusher than run defender at this point. Sometimes gets his feet "stuck in the mud" trying to decipher plays. But with some coaching has a huge upside.

120. Alex Green RB Hawaii 6'0" 220lbs.
Green has the size, strength, quickness, explosiveness, speed and athleticism to be a good NFL starter but didn't get the ball enough in college for personnel men to feel good about him being a durable long-term solution. He looked great on film but was unimpressive at the East-West Shrine practices, which is a concern. He is sure to shine at the NFL Scouting Combine and in other pre-draft workout, but GMs should be a bit wary because he hasn't proved a lot on the field. That said, he has the potential to develop into an Arian Foster-type back. — Russ Lande, War Room scouts

And there you have it. I only create this thread to point out that while the so-called draft gurus talk about the top players in the draft, there are other players that get drafted, never get talked about and make up 85% of the NFL rosters. These are the players that if they don't hit the ground running, take more time to develop are usually not given the leeway high profile players are. It really gets under my skin when a guy like Jamarcus Russell can hang around for multiple years and a lesser profile guy is let go after TC. They got a brief moment to show they belong, if not it's "Don't let the door hit your *** on the way out". I hope it was informative.
