Was the Brandon Marshall trade worth it?

Brandon Marshall just admitted 10 days ago or so that he does not have great hands nor does he run really good routes. And he said that he too often, he tries to run with the ball before he catches it.

He said his game was using his muscle and size.

I wish I could find that story, it was a part of one in one of the local newspapers if anyone can link it.

You should read it. Your saying wrong. He said he doesnt have the best hands or run the best routes. Nowhere did he say he doesnt have good hands or.doesnt run good routes.

When he says "I do not have best hands or run the best routes", what are you taking from that?

What do you consider "the best" means?

Would "the best" mean just good? For me, being the best at something means being great at something.

Marshall is saying he does not have the best, so let's say he does not have top 10% hands. He said he does not run the best routes, to me that means he is not the top 10% at running routes.

Now if you read again what I said, where did I say that Marshall did not have good hands? or run good routes? I said that he said he was not great at certain aspects of playing the WR position in the NFL. (in blue below)

What really surprised me was that he did not seem bothered by it. He did not say he was working on either his hands or trying to run precise routes, only that he should think about working on catching the ball before he runs with it.

no he isnt. i would say it is daniel thomas. the problem right now is henne relies on him in key situations too much. give him a rest. he has dropped balls in endzone, run wrong route, danced with defender at LOS being late in his quick route, and is still mentally lost sometimes.

clearly, marshall has some mental issues. football is a mental game in many facets. I was indifferent to marshall. marshall helped get people in seats. until the whole debacle last year, involving marshall btw, started. which helped lead to the disfunctionality of this team and henceforth the fans who bagged this team the entire offseason.

I have always said big name players dont make you great, players who play great and strive for greatness make you great. marshall is kinda just like dolphin fans. a whiner. so his stabbing kind of set him straight....not really. dude still has issues.

just dont go too much to the well with him. other players can make plays.

the guy who has only played half the games this season??? how he can be our best offensive threat if hes in street clothes... bad hammy, miss week one... play two games, than sit out again??? I would disagree with you and say our best offensive weapon is marshall, followed by bush, neither of which we utilize properly anyway, so I guess it doesnt matter. this team is just so out of sync, it's hard to watch either way I guess.

No. Camarillo is the kind of WR that has the best hands. Bess has great hands. There both far from great.

Marshall saying he doesnt have the best hands is a true statement, Just like If A.Johnson said the same thing. The guys with tue best hands arent top WRs. C. Johnson doesnt even have the best hands. And he's the most dynamic WR in the NFL.

Your taking what Marshall said and putting a stupid spin on it.

Camarillo has great hands. But thats all he's got. Marshall, Johnson, C. Johnson, Fitzgerald, Wayne, White. Give or take the top WR in the NFL. They all have there fair share of drops. Its part of the game.

I think Brandon Marshall is leading the NFL is drops so.......

And these WRs you are mentioning do make the big and tough catches. And ones in the endzone.

Almost no idea what you are saying, which WRs do you think have the best hands and why are they not good WRs?

After a basic level of speed, the 1st thing you look for is hands, how good are they. Does he catch with his hands or his body?

2nd is how precise do they run patterns. Route running is important for getting open and for the timing with the QB.

3rd is speed. Being very fast here can move you above hands or route running which can be taught.

The difference between a WR and a DB is a WR can catch.

Camarillo has amazing hands and run good routes. But he's not very good. Bess runs amazing routes and has great hands but he's not elite.

Marshall was always a "drop artist" but still had 3 great years before we traded for him. Its not new.

Moore has had two good games and I watched them both. He has speed and can separate, he has better hands than Marshall, he is acrobatic in ways Marshall can't even consider. And Moore is young and hungry and apt to be more willing to listen, learn and work with and not against his QB. Yeah I would trade Marshall and two seconds for him. Look back on our seconds, most in recent history are no longer in the league...big loss?

He had 5 catches for 146 yards and a TD in one game vs. the Bills. He has 9 catches for 180 yards and 1 TD on the year. When was his 2nd good game? Marshall has proven to be a 1,000+ yard receiver year in and year out and has MUCH better numbers this year as well. He hasnt produced the TD's we would have liked so far, but to say you would trade him + two early round picks for some guy with ONE good game is absolutely ridiculous. Im glad you are not our GM

I get the people who dont like the trade now because by the time we are good we will have to cut him.

My main reason for regretting the Marshall trade is his personality disorder.

First of all ask yourself why do the Broncos trade BM in the first place?
You are talking about an elite playmaker who had just finished his second consecutive pro-bowl. He has great on field chemistry with the QB.
Despite that the Broncos bench him for the final game of the season for being late to some practice and ultimately trade him.
Doesn't that strike anyone as odd. Teams don't just dump there top playmakers unless they have a reason.
Everyone wrote Brandon's erratic behavior as being a part of youth that he would eventually grow out of. His marriage was supposed to be a step in the right direction.
We were wrong.
There is no cure for BPD(borderline personality disorder). I am glad Brandon was finally diagnosed, but this issue is never going away. It explains his awful relationship with Henne and his explosive/destructive behavior during games.
Being a professional football player involves an incredible amount of psychological stress that will only exacerbate his disease. I bet you the team has to invest a lot resources to shield Brandon from the negativity surrounding the Dolphins. I would if I were Ireland/Ross. He is simply not emotionally equipped to deal with it.
People with BPD have significant difficulty with impulsive behavior(knifing incident) and interpersonal relationships(his undercutting of Henne).

Mark my words this is not going away and as the season spirals out of control things will only get worse.
I wish Brandon the best. I hope he will be able to keep it together I just don't like the odds.

Worth it! He's the most talented and skilled player on our ENTIRE team.

thats some pretty good company at the top three. and how nice 2 of our WR's are in the top two in dropped passes.

Excellent points. I would add, however, that the Pats never won a SB with Moss on the team

bingo, beat me to it. and agree totally on the mental toughness. football is mental. i just wish henne would get pissed ala marino.
