In case you haven't been following the Ray Rice issue, the issue with Brandon Marshall was also domestic violence. Until moving to Chicago he had a long history of beating up his partners, going back to his college days at Central Florida (it's the reason he fell to the 4th round). In fact I read where the Police came to his home 33 times over matters of domestic violence (including him getting stabbed with a glass vase) over the years, but he always got off. In the end, Ireland had had enough of him. Denver gave up on him before he came here.
Brandon Marshall has a mental health issue - Borderline Personality Disorder - BPD and the good news is that since moving to Chicago that he has had success in handling it. He still has it but he gets the treatment he needs to better cope with life.
The National Institute of Health defines BPD as:
A serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of self-identity. Originally thought to be at the "borderline" of psychosis, people with BPD suffer from a disorder of emotion regulation. While less well known than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), BPD is more common, affecting 2 percent of adults, mostly young women.
Hey, thanks for this. I think the Rice thing is despicable and I never really followed the Marshall off the field problems very closely - perhaps ignorance on my part or there is just more visibility today w this stuff. I was simply reacting to watching BM catch 3 TDs. Too bad he couldn't get it together personally here because he's an incredible player. I do find it hard to believe the best we could have done was 2 no 3's. On a purely personal note if he has learned how to manage is disorder then that's really more important than football in the grand scheme of life.
