We have a long way to go...

He didn't get his nickname Checkdown Chad for nothing. We're talking about comparing him to a guy with a 5000 yard passing season (the only other than #13) and a Super Bowl ring. Sorry but that's just over the top homerism imo.

We'll see on Monday then. If true, good news.

We are also talking about a guy who had the first 3 seasons that he did, that is FACT.....not speculation and a guy who was released by his team. No where did I say Henne would become Drew Brees. I did point out that he had a major learning curve as well and it is fact that Henne had to overcome bad play calling, no chance to audible, and an offense that had plays being called out by the opposing defense.

As far as the check down Chad, he didn't get that until he got to the NFL in Hennings system. Funny how Drew Brees was facing something similar with Marty Ball in San Diego, but ya no caparison at all.....oh wait Henne also had a full half a yard better average per pass in comparing years 2-3...hmmmmmmmmmmm. So what would that have made Brees in those 2 years Dink Down Drew?

I was saying the same thing watching last night. Henne will NEVER be on that level of QB. Footwork not good enough, no accuracy, and no poise in the pocket. Henne would've been sacked many more times last night had he been in there. The accuracy and footwork are bad enough, but to top it off his touch isn't close to half as good as Brees or Aaron.

Are you serious? That was Drew Brees and the NO Saints and he was on his back constantly! Why would Henne have been sacked more??? It doesn't matter who was in there they would have been sacked just as much with as many Packers as were in the back field last night.
That had to be one of the most ridiculous things I have read on here.....

This is a very fair argument. Seems absurd to compare Henne to Brees now because we've all seen Brees' body of work under an aggressive offensive mind. And I've been beating the drum against Henne, Daboll(still question Sparano and Ireland), and pushing for Orton, and Harbaugh. One thing we can all agree on is that Henne was a very different QB in 2010 than he was in 2009.

Ya, look at Brees first 3 years. Looks familiar.

Very familiar........
From year 3 to year 4 he was a whole different player.
From 11 TD's to 27?? If any of you believe that they had any less confidence in Brees before he found his rhythm than our coaching staff does in Henne you're out of your mind.
Before one of you downer starts mouthing off......I am not saying that he will end up being Brees, but to say he has any less of a chance is absurd.
I wonder how many of you are the ones that have mouthed off about us losing out of Beck and are now in love with him bc he is coming into his, but were complaining about him when we had him.
Not many QB's come out and are ready in the first couple years.

The Packers looked good. No question. Still game one for everyone.

There were no losers in that game last night.. I didn't see one. I saw two superbowl caliber teams going at it and one managed to win basically because of a single turnover. It was the difference in the game.

Those two teams could play again tonight in New Orleans and the result might be different.

You'll go far with quarterbacks like that, always be a contender no matter what... and play an exciting brand of football... win or lose.

Watching the game last night, particularly seeing the command that Rodgers and Brees have over their offenses really brought home for me how far the 'phins have to go to get to that level. Both of those teams are so damned loaded with talent; it was pretty impressive.

Just an observation that I know we are all aware of.

How bout those defenses? Good lord. They better hope they're Offenses are clicking like that all the time.

Their offenses usually are clicking like that all the time... that's why they've both won superbowls.

I don't think either team is as bad defensively as some people are going to come away thinking because of last night's game. It's more due to the caliber of quarterbacks that were on display...

Both the Saints and the Packers were top 5 in yards allowed last year, and both were top 10 (Packers were actually #2) in points allowed.

However, if I had to get right down to it, I'd much rather watch my team lose 42-34 in shootouts, rather than 13-6 because I have a "top 5" defense and sloppy, mistake filled, uninspired offensive play due to lack of a quarterback.

The Saints won not only with their dynamic offense but a very opportunistic defense as well. Their defense did not create nearly as many turnovers last year thus the fall back.

The Pack have a good defense to go with their offense. They remind me in many ways of the Pats earlier this decade.

I love the offense but dont like the shootouts. I get pissed watching a defense on a field that cant stop anything.

The Saints defense played a huge role in their superbowl season, I'm not denying that. But they weren't getting anywhere close to the superbowl with that opportunistic defense if they were trotting out a Miami Dolphins caliber offense right behind it....

The Packers have a good defense because they can get pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and cover well in the back 7. The Packers needed points to win those playoff games last year along with the superbowl. They weren't getting by any of them scoring 17-20 points a game... they look nothing like the Patriots early in the decade to me. They look more like Bills of the early 90's to me....

I don't necessarily like the shootouts every week, but I want to know I'm capable of getting into one if I need to. My point was if I was given the choice to watch my team lose 9 games in 42-34 shootouts, or watch my team lose 9 games 13-6 because of a putrid offense, I'd rather watch the former. Not only because it's a more exciting brand of football to watch, but because I think I have more of a CHANCE to win like that, as opposed to hoping for the other offense to make a mistake inside their own 30 yardline so I can get back in the game...

I control my fate more that way, as opposed to feeling like I'm at the mercy of the opponent.

If there's one thing worse than watching a defense that can't stop anything, it's watching an offense that can't get out of it's own way. The only thing worse than watching a defense lose games is watching an offense lose games...

Henne has never been as accurate as Brees. Even when Brees wasn't putting up numbers you could still see that he was a good Qb. Henne could certainly get better, but he will never be as good as Brees because he is inaccurate.

Who was in the aft championship the last two years in a row? The New York Jets with a qb completing 54% of his throws

I don't believe in this crap that it's a qb driven league, sure it's the most valuable piece on the field,

But its a TALENT driven league, which is why Mark Sanchez could beat manning and Brady in their houses

some of those throws from both QB's were incredible. Placed in perfect spots for the WR. With that being said, I don't see our D getting torched like that all season. However, no one would of stopped the QB play from last night. What a great game to start the season.
