We have a long way to go...

Please, they were decimated with injures when we played them. It's called an upset. Tell me, what happened the rest of the year with those two teams. Oh wait, one won the supebowl, while the other went 7-9, and lost their last 3 games.

Here we go with this again. The Packers were 7-1 at home last year. With their 'decimated injuries', they won the SB anyway. Them having injuries cannot be used in a negative light b/c of their SB win. It makes what the Dolphins did even more impressive.

Sure it didn't amount to much with the record at the end of the year but it isn't justifiable to give the Dolphins no credit for what they did.

Please, please don't tell me you think Henne will even come close to Drew Brees. Fat chance. Brees has all the skills, the footwork, the accuracy. Henne does not and will never have that.

No one can.

Brees had 28 TDs and 31 INTs in his first three years. He obviously made changes to his all-around game and got better. It makes no sense to say it's impossible for Henne (or ANY other QB) can't do the same.

Will he/they? No one knows. But that's different than automatically assuming the worst.

I love how on a Dolphins fan forum it's always how stupid the Fins were to pass on these guy's, when over 20 teams passsed on Rodgers and he sat behind 1 of the best QB's of all time for 3 years. Now I will admit losing out to Brees for Culpepper was AWFUL but that was 5 or 6 years ago it's time move on and plus it was Saban not Sparano. We beat the packers last year in GB and the year before played the SB champs Saints real close w/out Marshall, Dansby, Odrick, Bush, plus Davis, Smith, & Bess were all rookies. Props to those teams they are talented, it's hard to say in those games if the Defense is that bad or the Offenses are that good but I think we could could play with them as we proved in the last 2 years.

These two QB's dispell the "suck for Luck" BS.

20 teams passed on Rogers and he set for years behind Farve.

Brees was not drafted till the 2nd round and was just ok his first 3 years.

Even Danny Boy lasted till #27.

You never know.

Attention everyone feeling sorry for themselves after seeing the game last night and thinking we cannot compete...

We beat Green Bay at Lambeau last year.

Also, Saints D looked awful.

I would wait to rag on henne just yet, lets see how he does with a offense that will be pass driven first. I thought he looked great during preseason one awful pick but fasano pick was not on Henne if it hits your hands catch it !!!

And some people still think drafting a cornfed lineman over a franchise QB in the first round is acceptable

This.

They just lost a bunch of people to injuries the week before...Finley got injured the week before.

The packers now would kill us.

Dunno why people are oblivious to pointing out that the teams last night are better than us...

because there are some people called homers. We have some ridiculous homers on this site. i honestly have no idea how a few of them can be let down so often and still think the way they do without taking pills.

as Dolphins fans, we know what it's like to have a top QB involved in shootouts every week. that was us in the 80's and 90's. yes, it was more exciting, but just as disappointing.
it takes more than one player or one unit to win it all; balanced teams are the best teams.
and I don't care if it's Rodgers, Brees or Brady, a good defense makes their team beatable

Absolutely... can't say I disagree with that at all.

Cleveland beat the 14-2 Patriots last year, but that doesn't mean Cleveland was as good of a team as the Patriots anymore than it means Miami was as good of a team as the Packers because they somehow managed to beat them (without Clay Matthews).

Good luck getting any of the homers to use their own logic and apply it to teams like the Lions, Bills, or Browns who also beat Miami. Ask them if they think any of those teams are as good as Miami.... see what they tell you...

We were not that far behind either of these teams last year. We were 8-8 (I don't care what the record books say about the Pitt game) and if that'd been our true stat we would have one at least 1 of our final games. Pick holes in that reasoning if you like, but if we were rightfully awarded the Steelers game, we'd have finished the season a little better

We beat both the SB teams, in their back yard (again, screw the official records).

We have improved a lot. We lost our crappy Special Teams coach, our senile Offensive coordinator, our QB coach> We added a huge amount of offensive speed and flexibility and our top 6 defense is even more loaded with talent this year.

I say we are more or less on a par with the Saints, though in a slightly tougher division. I think GB is an awesome team, considering what they achieved with so many injuries last season. We're still not that far off them.

We were a good team last year, with multiple handicaps, a lot of which are gone. Not every team improves year to year, so if you improve you have a chance of finishing with a considerably better record. Not a guarantee, a chance.

Lions are a good team. I'll give you that one!

Every team is beatable.... that's why going undefeated is an extremely rare event. But the teams with the elite quarterbacks are a helluva lot less beatable than the teams without one...

You always want balance, but not at the expense of not being able to come from behind when you go down 2 scores in games. If that was Miami playing the Packers last night down 21-7, that game would've ended up 42-13...

Miami is extremely beatable as long as they keep relying on yet ANOTHER vastly overrated defense to carry the team and no legitimate quarterback.

With Payton Manning being hurt those two QB's might be the best in the business.

700 passing yards , 6 TD's and 0 INT's

If Henne can be even in the same discussion as those two we'll be just fine.

The bomb from Brees to Meachem for six was a classic example to smart, superstar QB's. Collins plays up leaving on on one for Meachem on Williams, Brees quickly identifies it, makes the adjustment, and delivers a nice pass to Meachem for six.

Personally, i liked the Rodgers to Jennings touchdown against Patrick Robinson. Not because it was a particularly difficult read before the snap, but because afterwards the announcers slowed the play down and you can read Rodgers lips while we looks at the matchup and he exclaims "Really?!?!", then throws the easy touchdown. Outside of Pennington, when was the last quarterback for the Dolphins able to read and exploit a play before the snap consistently?

Not sure how people can slam the Saints defense. They got to Rodgers, they broke up some plays. Its just that the Packers offense has elevated their game to a whole new level. They will be in the top 3 offenses before the year is over. Hell, they will probably make a run for "undefeated" for the first 10 or 12 weeks. As TedSlimm said, that was just a matchup between 2 Superbowl contenders. There is no shame at all for the losing team.

And again, not sure how people can take some validation for us beating the Packers one week out of 17. Green Bay showed they could win games all year long and win when the pressure was on. Miami lost 4 of their last 5. Yes, we did beat Green Bay last season, but we also showed no consistency. As well, if anyone recalls, that game could have easily turned against us, as it went into overtime and relied on a Carpenter kick to squeeze out the win. That game we were the better team. That season the Packers were the better team.
Given the choice, id rather have lost that game and won the Superbowl. Id take that decision 10 out of 10 times.

you could say the same thing about a team with an elite defense

an elite defense doesn't allow 3 TDs in the 1st quarter to anyone so you don't have to have a top-5 QB to keep up.

and I'm speaking in general terms, not just the Dolphins
