We may be cutting moore to save for 2015

 Ryan lost more games at QB than anyone on the team, just think how much we could save if we cut him.... :rolleyes2:

Think about it though. Let's say after we draft our rookies we have about $10 million to carry over into next season when Moore's salary comes off the books. So that makes $15million from those two things. If we cut him before, that's $15 million to carry over ...... essentially the same freakin' thing.

There's literally no point in doing it unless some absolute game changer falls from the apple tree and we need to free up more money. I'd still insist on asking him to take a pay cut first before ever even considering it. He's too great of an insurance policy and his teammates love him. The entire backup QB market out there is lousy and I shutter to think about the turd we'd end up with.

This might surprise you or conflict with your cynicism, but teams want to win. Moore>Devlin and our cap is healthy.

Cynicism? no I call it reality, why spend 5 mil on a backup QB when the team is a .500 club.....that's a luxury that teams have when they have a legitimate shot at the SB....I would love to see the salary of backups QB on teams that made the playoffs last yr

I would like to see Moore restructure his contract. if not for this year, for next. There seems to be conflicting reports on how the dolphins cap will be next year.

Are you still hung up only on that little bit vs Buffalo?

Yes, I forgot about that magical 2011 season when he led the lead team to 6 wins and 7 losses. Where he had more turnovers than TDs and never beat a winning team. Or, maybe I should look at his career of 38 games with 33 TDs and 44 turnovers.
You're right, why just concentrate on one bad game when there are so many other examples?

Wait let's see here ......

Matt Moore 33 TD's, 28 INT's and 8 Fumbles lost ...... 25 games started
Ryan Tannehill 36 TD's, 30 INT's, and 9 Fumbles lost ....... 32 games started

Ohhhhhhmerrrrrgerrrrd the disparity of it all!!!!!!! But it's always everyone else's fault when it comes to Ryan. Any other QB, they get forum snob treatment.

Keep sippin' that Early Grey.

Are you going to remove the stats from the games that Moore didn't start/mop up time or do we get to come back and compare these numbers after Tannehill has played in 39 games like Moore has?

Is that a joke? You're talking spot duty appearances Moore had compared to the 7 MORE STARTS Ryan has ..... not to mention a season in 2013 when he was asked to stand back and sling it at a ridiculous 588 attempt rate.

Moore has 764 career attempts. Ryan 1,072 attempts.

That was my point. If you are going to cut important players from the team to save a few dollars you are going to have to spend more to replace them. Makes no sense.

Howbout trade strait across Moore for BJ Daniels? I would go as far as giving Seattle a 2015 7th rounder for that one.. Sorry, not a Moore fan.

No doubt. We don't get to save a net +$5 million. I remember people clamoring for Fitzpatrick in one of the other "Moore sukz he needz teh go!" threads. Well Fitz got 2 years, $7.5 million with the Texans. $4 million guaranteed, and counts $3.37 million against the cap this year.

Btw, the rest of the crap pack available:

Shaun Hill
Colt McCoy
Mark buttfumble (EDIT: WTF it auto-corrects his name on here? LOL)
Kevin Kolb
Matt Flynn
Luke McCown
David Garrard
Dan Orvlosvsky
Josh Freeman
Rex Grossman

Ya, no thanks.

To be fair, we know what we will get from Matt Moore. A guy that can't get us to the next level, but a decent backup. And his ceiling is reached. Tannehill is young, a lot less experienced at the QB position, and already has comparible stats as moore, all while getting sacked a team high 58 times.

i mean, really, i'd roll the dice on Devlin. I think he could do just as good as moore, at a cheaper price. don't think we need a 3rd qb. maybe draft a guy in the later rounds.

Well if you are in favor of having Devlin start a few games this year and think that we would be as competitive as if Moore was starting then all I have to say is we will have to agree to disagree. Personally I do agree that we could get rid of our 3rd QB, as long as Devlin is the one out the door. Devlin's ceiling is Cleo Lemon, which equals hot garbage. I have seen enough of Devlin to say I hope we cut all ties with him this year. He has had all the time we need to give him.

Back up QB is a VERY important position. Look at the '72 undefeated season. Griese went down and Shula was smart enough to have a very good back up in Erroll Morrel. Without Earl there is no undefeated season. Tannehill has been very durable but if he went down for 5 or 6 games the season is over because Devlin is not a real #2. We're lucky to have a guy that can step in and keep us competitive so let's NOT trade him. His value is not realized until he is called upon. He is insurance, let's hope we don't need him. Let's keep Tanne upright! The o-line is on the way to being repaired. Something tells me he likes either Brenner or Dallas Thomas for RG. Shelly is a LG according to CK. CK is usually right, I've been posting with him for years. Still need more o-line help but I have faith in the FO for a change!!
