We need to deal Marshall for draft picks

This thread is ridiculous. Marshall is a top 10 receiver. You keep those kind of players. Not trade them.

Last year I had to argue with folks he wasn't a Top 5 player...now he is just considered Top 10...next year Top 15...maybe...

Yeah, so could every other player in the NFL. Doesn't mean the Packers are just going to trade Aaron Rodgers because he has a chance of a getting a career ending injury or retiring prematurely.

I love when people take things out of context. I used the possibility of Marshall getting injured to say that anything is possible and not because that is a logical reason to trade him. This came in response to people saying that any draft picks we acquired could turn out to be busts. The fact is no matter how many guru's we have on this board none of us know what is going to happen.

I think I have said it more than a few times I don't want them to trade him.

I think they need him especially if we draft a young QB next year, but would anyones opinion change if trading him for picks helped us get Luck?

It's bad business to not have talent on your football team, aka your product. More than likely you could spend both the first and second and wide receivers and neither one would provide half the production that Marshall does.

I don't disagree with trading when you have a talent surplus and replacements on the roster, but I don't believe in trading star players when they are the only ones close to that caliber at their position. And for the record, Marshall trade value will always be lower than his production because of his red flags.

I stated earlier in the thread that it would not be good for any of our QB's to have Hartline as the number one receiver. You are incorrect saying its bad business to trade talent, if someone is willing to overpay for that talent. Last I checked business centers around profit being higher than cost (what you paid for the product). We paid 2 2nd's and if we can sell for more than that 2 yrs later is a pretty good deal.

Bill Belichick has made common practice of stock piling draft picks and trading players when he can get something out of them. I am sure you would have said it was bad business to trade Moss for a 3rd rounder and so would I but it seemed to work out for the pats.

People misunderstood my post because I am all for keeping Marshall. We will desperately need him if they draft a rookie QB. It would be disservice to any young QB to have Colombo at RT and Hartline as his #1 target.

Don't you remember? Not having a WR was the only reason why our QB stunk. And when acquiring that receiver still didn't make him better, it was the OC's fault! Now it's simply Sparano's fault.

Getting rid of receivers just because the QB is not up to snuff is foolish because when you do change QB's, you need the next QB to have the most chance for success as possible.

Clearly Henne isn't the long term answer so we're in agreement there. What was really foolish was to make the trade for Marshall to paper over the cracks that your QB has.

Really Marshall is a luxury player. If you have no QB, he makes no difference as we've seen. On the other hand if you have the QB you don't need Marshall.

Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers - they don't need a Brandon Marshall to play at a very high level. Just give them any receiver who can run accurate routes and catch the ball

ITS NOT MARSHALL THAT IS COSTING US GAMES...trade the whole defense, Sporano, Daboll, and Bush if you want to trade the POS on our team...Henne is doing what he is told by the smart *** daboll, and Marshall has been playing good, he got shut down in 1 game big deal!!

Players are not stocks. That kind of approach can work to some degree in baseball, but not football.

A new GM with no ties to him would move Marshall out. He simply isn't worth 9m a year or anything like that and I can't see him taking a pay cut like Carey did

Looking like a strong option now, isn't it?
No, not really. Anyone who denies Marshall's talent it out of their mind. Yeah he has dropped quite a few passes this year and we are all frustrated. Even still, he makes everyone else on the offense better by drawing the double teams and opening up things for Bess, Fasano, and Hartline. On top of that, he still produces some pretty solid numbers. Just know that Marshall is in a slump and is probably not happy that Sparano and Henne are still around. No excuse, but I imagine things will be different with a new QB and a new coaching staff.

I think bill belichik would disagree with you. Please explain how you think the system works differently in baseball? I'm not sure I get where your going with that comment.

did anyone catch b marsh after the 3rd and 4 drop for a first down? he goes right to sideline and directly to bench and puts his head down. that is a beaten man. and now he has no henne to blame. nobody. nobody but himself. hope he continues his therapy well. he needs it.
