We need to try to sign DeSean Jackson or risk handing him over to the Patriots...

Dude. They opted to keep a receiver who dropped the N bomb on camera, that the whole country saw. Think about that.

How damaged must Jackson be, in order for the Eagles to make that choice?

There's a massive difference between someone saying the n word and someone who associates with known gang members and flashes gang signs during games.

Let's put aside the diva stuff for a moment. This is the organization which signed Chad Ochocinco and probably would have kept him if not for the off field nonsense - something Jackson has never done.

DeSean Jackson is a proven slot WR and MIA needs a slot WR with Brandon Gibson still an injury question mark.

MIA can free up $1.7 m in cap by releasing Gibson to sign Jackson and substantially upgrade the position.

Can you imagine T-Hill behind an OL which can given him more than 2 seconds throwing to Jackson, Wallace, Hartline, Clay and Moreno on most downs? NE's new DBs could not cover that crew.

This still does not offer valid proof to tarnish someones' reputation and cause them lose their job. I also know gang members and have friends that are gang members. I am a teacher. Does that make me a gang member? The point is if he is actually associated with gangs we should be given legit proof not hearsay. Furthermore what is association? He's facebook friends with them, they grew up in the same neighborhood. These are just odd accusations with the only evidence being an article in a newspaper saying that he's associated with gang members.

C'mon, do you expect a team to release all the sensitive intel they have on a player of this nature to the public? Ask yourself this; how convinced must the Eagles have been as to what is being reported to release a player of his calibre?

The patriots wouldn't sign him, money is the issue there. Everybody overreacting to his gang association is funny I'm literally laughing at the posts. What a sheltered life we live. Btw this murderer he is linked to was acquitted. Being friends with a gang member isn't a huge crime. Hes been in the nfl how long? This isn't news to the team i guarantee you that. He should sue for character assassination. I would take him in a second. He is a diva but he is no criminal

I see him with the JETS before the Patriots. Im not sure which is worse...either way, we cant worry about it. Lets build our team and compete every week, its not an overnight overhaul to Superbowl.

The Pats will avoid him like the plague after the Hernandez thing. There is almost no chance of us signing him either. My gut tells me that it will be the Jets because Vick will make a hard push for him.

No there is no link to the Patriots signing Jackson but this is the exact type of signing these guys wait for. They might not have a lot of salary cap space but they'll create enough for a chance to sign him. He is an elite talent and still young. He has behavior issues but the Pats love to get guys like this because they know they need to straighten up in New England.

We don't have that much salary cap room either but we could find it too if we cut some extra luggage.

Tom Brady and DeSean Jackson could break records together.

I also think this regime has a win now mentality as shown by their undying loyalty to Mike Pouncey who had the whole bully gate thing happen and his public affiliations with known convicted murderers. Yet Ross, Hickey, and Philbin have praised him.

That whole Philbin type of player is now a case by case evaluation of talent versus baggage. If your talent is outweighs the things you'v done in your past, you get a pass, and DeSean Jackson's talent far outweighs anything bad he has done. He has bad affiliations but so does everyone in the NFL.

I would love for it to happen. I don't care if the reports are true. This team is so starved for a legit #1 WR. It's shameful. Before Brandon Marshall got traded, the last dynamic true #1 WR we had was IRVING FRYAR. So yeah...

Sign him and deal with the consequences later. Him and Wallace on the field with Hartline & Gibson in the slot would be very potent. There's a lot of position flexibility there also. I think there's no way it happens though. Philbin is still the coach. The same guy who thinks it's so important to pick up pieces of paper on the field and tell players not to curse. If they did get him though, it would be a strong sign that Hickey is in charge. We'll see.

I blame our organization for the likelihood we won't look at him.

If we had a team with strong leadership, you can bring in talented malcontents like DeSean. We don't and thus (even if we wanted to) won't risk this dude in our locker room.

Some of the jets forum posters believe that the chances of Izdick signing him have greatly decreased now that he's on sale to the highest bidder vs being trade bait. Hope they're right and he's at least out of the division.

Does Philly have poor leadership then?

the Patriots are a elite franchise , were just mediocre. we don't want great wide receivers

Deion Branch is going to the Hall of Fame I guess?

Given the PR nightmare the Dolphins have encountered I would be floored if they took a chance on Jackson. However, that being said a fair 2 year contract with only the 1st year guaranteed would be sweet. You can bet that given the nature of his release Jackson will be a consummate team player this year and work his butt off, imo.
