We picked up another CB! (merged)

Flemons wasn't likely to make our squad anyway. I mean, how many defensive ends can one team keep? This sounds like a reasonable attempt to shore up our secondary, if this kid from Seattle is any good.

It sounds like a logical move to me. Saban is not missing much when it comes to shoring up at CB concerning depth. Hes putting together a squad that will compete at all positions.

I think even if he is decent, we need some depth at CB for Nickel / Dime packages especially if we get any other hurt DB's. He isn't prototypical Saban CB though, when I looked at his info I expected to see a larger guy. But again -- Flemons? He was never going to play a down for us given the depth we have at DE / DL.

I honestly don't know anything about the guy, but hopefully he is good enough to the make the team. Personally, I don't think that we should've traded Ronald Flemons, but we DO needs another CB so hopefully this guy Richard pans out.

Why not trade flemons? there is no way he would have made the team... whos spot was he gunna take? we are so damn deep and DE it should have been an easy decision...

Flemmings was good, just got caught in a numbers game...the kid was coming along well, the fact that he had trade value in itself was good since he's been a devel. squad-roster, back to dev. guy for us...but he did have some potential.

Good move I think for both teams. We had extra DE's so it wasn't a big loss for us but did help us beef up our secondary.

I've been following Flemons a lot, it was definitely a good move for us because in reality we are trading a former 7th round pick for a former 3rd round pick, but I think we could have even raised Flemon's trade value if we waited until preseason because that's when Flemons usually dominates. I believe he had 3 sacks and a forced fumble in one game last year during pre-season. And I'm a bit confused why Saban would target Kris Richard, he's only 5'11" 190lbs... not a typical Saban-type CB. But yeah I agree Flemons would have just most likely been on PS squad and only played a few games if there was a injury, so in retrospect... it was a good move our part if Richard is good enough to make the team. We definitely needed depth at CB. But overall Flemons has played pretty well when he's got the chance, he's just a victim of numbers because of our surplus of DE's... if we didn't pick up Vonnie Holliday or ended up releasing David Bowens, I honestly do feel Flemons would have made the team.

Healthy CB's on the roster:

1. Madison
2. Daniels
3. Howard
4. Edwards
5. Roundtree
6. Billy Parker (though hes really a Safety, hes listed as DB)

Richard gives us a 7th active DB. Remember last year we kept 5 active DB's all year long. This was a move that should have ben expected given our injuries to Poole and Mitchell.

i'm not sure about this move....5'11" 190lbs is not a "saban" db.

You cant be sure until you measure the lenth of his arms.

depth is good at CB, we only have one side locked with Madison, and NE & Jersey Jets like to go 4-5 wide a lot.
