Weather affecting Pats? Not so fast....

I posted statistics a while ago disproving any notional that the Dolphins have a home field advantage in September. Over the past decade we've only won about 25 percent or something of our September home games so I'm not really sure where this whole, home field advantage in the summer, discussion comes from but it's a fact the Dolphins have no home field advantage in the summer.

We've sucked the last decade....go back and look at September under Shula.

Brady at SunLife over the past decade:
Sept/Oct/Nov: 5-0
Dec: 1-4

Those stats say it all. There definitely is an advantage but it mostly only shows up later in the year. Why that is is up for debate.

I live in CT (not far from Pats-ville). Why do people around the country think it is like in the 60's up here??? Not.

Let me tell you, it is FRIGGIN HOT and HUMID here this week. 90 degrees and VERY humid today. Upper 80's and more humidity the rest of the week.

Yep, perfect time for the weather to get like that in New England....NOT. This is just giving the Pats the opportunity to practice in this all week. And knowing Bellicheese, he is making them all practice in Black Sweaters.

You do know that Florida is on the same latitude like the Sahara desert don't you?
Since we are much closer to the Equator the sun is much higher up (almost dead center at noon). Sun exposure is much higher down here than it is up north. 90F and 80% humidity are two different ball games between the Northeast and South Florida.

To make it a perfect Sunday football game we need a nice morning shower to soak south Florida and then let the sun break out at game time. Mmmmmmmmmh.

You guys forgot two years ago on opening night when we were the ones gasping for air in the heat?

Probably our off season preparations weren't as good as it used to be. There was a reason that at one point you were able to pencil the summer heat in Florida as an advantage. No matter who came to town they left beaten.

Maybe someone can look that record up. I think it changed a few years back when they build that new bubble. Prior to that the Dolphins had all their practices outdoor. Then the bubble came and I know at least of one coach who used the bubble when it was too hot (not just in rain). I believe it was Cameron.

Then some of our home games were moved to 4pm or Monday night and suddenly we had no early/mid September games.

I just went back to 2009 and we had only two 1pm games between early September and mid September. Both were won. The last one was Oakland in 2012. We clobbered them.

I can't even remember when we faced NE in an early home game at 1pm. The last one in 2011 was a Monday Night game.

Brady has never had a 1pm start in Miami in September, this is something new for him

See my post about scheduling and practice habits.

I believe throughout the 80s and 90s we were unbeaten (or at least had a high winning percentage) in September for almost 2 decades in 1pm games. It was a given that by the 4th quarter opponents were reeling and gasping for air. It was no myth. As much as we sucked in snow games we had the heat advantage.

Its been brutally hot for the past few days, but remember before that it was very mild for most of August.

Actually....they quit scheduling 1pm games a few years back because of the heat and the fans.

Not this one. I can't wait for the 1pm start. That was a silly request by Ross. Makes the out-of-town fans wilt as well and sends their fragile selves under the stadium.

Then the bubble came ...

You can curse Saban for that fools move. Ross was the one who requested games be moved from the 1pm time slots in a feeble attempt to sell more tickets.

We were talented then. A talented and conditioned team can use HFA in their favor. Unfortunately, this team cannot.

I know. We had an advantage back then. Over the past decade the heat has had no bearing on helping us win games.

Fans can also create HFA for their team's favor. Unfortunately, fans like you cannot.

Hopefully the sweat makes the mascara run into Tommie's eyes and he throws a couple of picks. To those who discount the heat advantage remember that preseason and practices are one thing; real NFL game competition is another. Wear the Patsies down and shove the ball down their throat in the 4th Q I hope is part of the game plan. Just ask Thigpen.

Its about wearing the defense down in the heat. If Belichick sees his defense isn't getting off the field in the first half, then it hurts the Pats. Same thing with us and Brady. But billy boy doesn't know what we got vs. his guys. He couldn't stop Matthews with Gibson out. think about that.

That's why we need our running attack to pound the ball down their throat in the 4th quarter.
