Well, maybe the Dolphins need to Switch to a 3-4 Defense?

Starks is a better 34 DE than 43 DT. Odrick though is ideal for 3 technique DT.

I posted earlier today, you'd need to draft Nix and sign Wilfork. Then, who are the 4 LB's? Jordan, Misi, & Ellerbe certainly. Jenkins? Wheeler?? Spitler?

I don't like the 34 especially the style pittsburgh & Parcells prefer.

The style Marty S ran in KC back in the day was okay as it emphasizes speed over power. San Diego & ironically (?) the Chiefs use it a version of it now.

Give me a fast & aggressive 43 like Philly ran under Jimmie Johnson and the Seahawks use now.

The LB's would be Wake, Vernon, and Jordan rotating on the outside, and Misi, Ellerbe, and Wheeler on the inside. Misi could also kick outside if needed due to injury etc.

I prefer not to think about Jordan as some messiah he hasn't done anything to prove it. Right now he isn't good enough to start and you have some on here blaming coaches for not playing him? See it for what he is. He is a undersized player that isnt able to perform yet. He is a big project in the works. It is ridiculous to act as if he should be starting until he can prove it. Some of you may not like my opinion but thats the way I see him right now! He was a bad pick when we took him as we had more needs. Aside from that you dont gamble on a 1st round pick that high. When he is a project. First round guys should for most part be guys that can step in and play . Still waiting for him to show that part! But like I said my opinion!

I totally agree with switching. I'd mean we'd only need two of Misi, Wheeler, and Ellerbe on the field for our base package, which is a good thing. Also, Jordan is a better fit in a 3-4, and I think long term OV could be a great 3-4 fit as well, since he did show some coverage ability in college.

This for sure. And also it's not like we will always be in the base formation, all 3 would see field time. I'd be intrigued to see OV try being a de... He does have some power.. Maybe bulk him up some. But I do recall him in coverage being passable some times

edit: although our current lineman Starks, Odrick, and Soliai are all better 34 fits imo

Id much prefer coyle keeps developing this 3-4/4-3 mix he has been working on

"Isnt good enough to start" which has nothing to do with the fact we had two de's having pro bowl level seasons?

You're right it dont which kind of makes it worse. Considering where he was drafted and what we gave to get him. With those two picks we could have had 2 o lineman! Or gotten a good Lb or corner.

he should have said wasn't good enough to start over Derrick Shelby who started over him

People can blame the coaches all they want. I don't. Jordan was a a project and a risky pick at a position we didn't need. I hope the kid can become what many think he can....but I doubt it. Never liked the pick from day one.

he played like 26 percent of plays and did very little with a few nice plays and many more not so nice plays.
Obviously the coaches wanted him to play more but he didn't earn it.

It's really funny how "now now now" people are. If a guy doesn't produce right away a player is deemed a failure.

Perhaps a name like Soliai rings a bell. First few years in the league he's not good enough, gets written off, and then he gets it. When Jordan starts making plays, you better not be one of the guys who comes back and says "Man this was such a solid pickup. He's such a great player."

A lot can change from April 2013 to July 2014. And be patient. The world wasn't made to spoon feed you rainbows at every possible whim.

I never said he was a failure but now that you mention it....yeah so far he is a failure. When you get drafted #3 overall there are expectations for you to produce or at least get on the damn field. Patience doesn't have anything to do with it. So far he is a bust. Can things change? Sure. Will they? I doubt it. I'm sure he will improve...I just don't ever see him being worthy of his draft pick. Would love to be wrong though.

I don't have a problem with the player so much.My problem with him is he is a major project which considering where he was drafted and we gave another pick to get him! And considering the teams needs it was a bad pick. There is no but the guy has potential here! That kind of pick should have been more ready to play. And I don't really buy in to those who think he may be more suited at LB! The guy is raw! And potential doesn't justify pick! Yeah he. Can be a good player. But it kind of makes you wonder what players we could have had had we not moved up to get him. I think team could have been much closer to being playoff bound. Depending on who we had. Probably would be much closer than what we are now.

Aside from that by the time he is playing good he may be a free agent! Bevause I just dont see him doing much more than last yr.

He has a lot of work to do in regards to the run game il admit that much

Why do you say obviously the coaches wanted that? When Coyle was asked after over half way through the season, he answered very honestly that Jordan probably wouldn't be getting a lot more playing time. Coyle strikes me as a rare exception in that he is actually very honest in answering his questions. Dion needs to put on 15 lbs and get a lot stronger. He was unfortunately behind the 8 ball right from the start because of the shoulder surgery and rehabilitation. However, that is all behind him and he comes across as a good team player who diligently wants to learn more. The emergence of Olivier Vernon meant that Coyle didn't have to rush Jordan's development. Hopefully, he is in good physical shape for the start of training camp.

Lets say Jordan gets stronger and earns playing time. That way, DJ & CW could start at DE and eventualy have a DLine like Seattle.

I'd suggest a double wide 9 front like the Lions... but... The LB play needs to improve.

Here's my suggestion , Ross should go up to coyle and say your fired!!!! Coyle absolutely blows as dc. Ireland you pos I hope you save your money cuz you'll never be an nfl gm ever again u pos.
