Were the critics (Haslett) right about Tebucky?

Isn't Shulters known for his ball hawking and cover skills? I know that he's had a couple of off years but I know that before his injuries he was quite the playmaker.

Yes sir, but the question is will he be the same guy? I hope so, with our defensive front I think we could put alot of pressure on the opposin offenses anyway. Which in turn will make our DB's look that much better (ala Randall Gay, and Frank Poutite? Not sure if that is his name, I can't remember now).

Granted it was only the 1st pre-season game... But I saw little to no evidence of that major pass-rush our front 7 is supposed to generate in the 1st Qtr. Grossman seemed to have time to get that ball out. This could really expose our secondary BIG TIME!!

But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as it was only... Our 1st pre-season game!!

Haslett's an ******* first and foremost, because you don't insult a player that's leaving your team the way he did. That was the bulk of it.

LOL, I hate to live on names but...

Kevin Carter
Jason Taylor
Vonnie Holliday
Matt Roth
David Bowens

Is there a better colleciton of DEs in the NFL? Then of course...

Traylor
Bowens (if he does ever return)
Chester
Zgonia
not to mention Carter and Holliday

I think we have the most talent on a d-line in a LONG time.

But of course this is jsut on paper, I see big things though.

Love your optimism!!! I would not classify this DL as the most talented in a long time. When we had Armstrong, Taylor, Bowens (healthy), Gardener (healthy and not acting like an a@@), Mixon, Bromell, etc., we had a stout line. Hell, even the line 2 years ago would be much better than this line.

LOL, but who plays the 1st quarter? The guys who offer the best chance to win. Then they should make return appearances throughout the game. Of course you still play other players in the other 3 quarters. But in the end who starts? The guys who offer the best chance to win. Especially in Miami. Our starters are just as much competing as our 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th string players.

 funny, do you think the starters were playing in the first quarter because they offered the best chance to win? or because they were just getting them some work in to get used to playing in game situations again? it was a preseason game, the roster is probably already set with over 40 of the 53 players. the preseason is a chance to see what last 10 players or so you are going to keep.

hard to tell when we've played just one preseason game and hes only practiced a few days with some injuries...
...and really getting sick of your same old comment like this. perhaps you should take a break from the forum until the last 2 preseason games "where it will supposedly matter then"

Tebucky Jones is better than all the other safties we looked at including Kenoy Kennedy. The guy can play the run and hit (101 tackles last year). Will he pick off passes and run them back Ed Reed style no, but he is an upgrade over Freeman.

i didn't say it doesn't matter... but if you judge a guy on one game your being VERY unfair, then i guess mike vicks gonna suck this year, being he didn't play good this first game, also matt shaub is better than payton manning... not to mention ricky williams will average under 2 yards a carry, its gonna be a rough year huh?

one game should never be used to evaluate a player, NEVER, anyone could have a bad game or a bad showing... it takes more than one game to evaluate someone fully... and now we're talking about evaluating a player on a scrimmage basically, and not only that a player who didn't practice really at all yes this season in his new system, and hes slightly injured... your basing the rest of this year on that? wow

I thought Lance was a hard hitter type just like the rest of our safties. I think we need a cover FS with some speed. Yeremiah Bell seems to be the closest thing to that and hes unproven. I was worried when we dumped S.Knight and A.Freeman. I almost wish we had A. Freeman back now. That Eric Brown is another big hardhitting type safety im pretty sure. I dont know what the plan is, im just assuming one way or another we'll be ok.

what about when teams cut to 53 man rosters maybe we can pick up a cb then and if not why havent we brought in terrell buckley and bobby taylor even if we dont sign them just to see if they are better than what we have surley we can find a cb to start oppsite of madison :shakeno: what don you guys think ?

He has had 2 seasons with 6 INTS, I believe. He racked up some nice tackles with the Titans early on when he joined them. But he has always been a good cover FS.

I think the first defensive series we got a glimpse of what this team going to do to cover-up for it's lack of backfield talent, when we sent a LB and the FS and caused the QB to throw before he wanted to. That was 1st the series and it was 3 and out. The rest of the game looked like experimenting with reserves and zones and who can play man.

The Billy B zone-blitz type of defense is going to own the league.

And I remember Haslett being quoted as saying about Tebucky, "The guy just can't catch. He just can't catch a football. I've never seen anything like it."

I'll have to see a ball hit him in the numbers and not catch it and then Haslett would still be a medicre coach...that won't change 8-8 is Haslett at his teams' best.

I remember last year Antuan Edwards dropped like 4 balls that hit him in the hands and he's now with that team in Foxboro. And all this while Sam Madison has dropped or missed numerous INTs the last 2 years which could have changed the entire game like in his younger days.
