This was never a QB compeitition.

It was always Gus's job. He is Linehan's buddy.

If you look at all preseason games combined, there was nothing to indicate Gus wins. In fact Gus never even scored a TD. and missed terribly on open WRs.

No doubt neither are starting caliber, but I would rather see Sage get a shot. At least he showed fire and the ability to make plays. Gus was as benign and inaffective as well...Jay Fiedler.

Nick you better pull a rabbut out of your a$$ on the QB. You picked up no answer here, and you drafted no future (and there was some good young talent there). YOU have handicapped this team going into the season by failing to address the most important position, one everyone knew was a problem. Strike one.

For one thing nick did the perfect thing with the quarterback position by putting Feeley where he deserves to be which is the 3rd string quarterback. Gus is alot better qb then AJ ever will be. You said gus didnt lead them to scores but i remember him leading us to some touchdowns. the first game agaisnt the bears he threw a touchdown pass although it was against the 2nd stringers and in the tampa game he led them downfield and they ended up getting a touchdown so you are wrong there. but lets think now and say how many touchdowns did AJ lead us to? i dont think he led us to any but if he did he led us to one score and that is it and he faced alot worst players then Frerrote. now neither is the solution for the future but that will get settled next offseason. but i think Saban did perfectly fine so far and just becuase your boy AJ didnt get the starting position because he sucks gives you no room to criticize Saban. You cant expect saban to fix every position in the first year he is there. Give him some time. and i would like to finish this by saying your comments were some of the stupidest things i ever heard and you should really think before you talk.

:fire: I think duped is a little over the top. Beyond that Saban has definitely not set this organization back as you state. One thing we all need to remember is that you can fix all the problems in one year. Wanspeil left this team in a mess. One draft and offseason will not put Humpty back together again. The QB position will be addressed. Had the right QB (right in Saban's eyes- not ours) been available at the right pick Saban would have drafted one. I have faith that he is already looking ahead to options for the future. He is building this team and he is doing a good job of building, but it will take a little time.

I am on record as saying that I am giving him time and the benefit of the doubt. I just do not agree with how this position has been handled.

Consider:

1. We had one of the worst offenses, maybe the worst in the NFL last year
2. He knew Ricky was coming back
3. The QB position is arguably the most important offensive position
4. He did not bring in any new OLine talent
5. He addressed RB, WR, and TE. Which was nto the priority. Line and QB where.

I know this will take several years. But man, I just want to see this offense at least get in the middle ground fo the NFL. I do not know how you do that with a suck QB and a suck OLine.

yeah right a good coach that destroyed a franchise little by little he won because those players wernt his JJ Drafted put them in. the only thing was pick up RW. The D was Bates D.

Sorry Dave was a good guy but as a coach he has killed two franchises Bears and Dolphins.

And YOU know something about football? Based on the highlighted portion of your statement, you are trying to bamboozle me into thinking you have football knowledge. Name one thing, besides bringing Williams in, that Wanny did with the Phins that suggests that he was a good coach. Now, if you said that he was a NICE coach, I would have agreed. Wanny was a terrible coach and bates was the same way. Both are good coordinators but neither are good coaches. the only reason you liked him is because he liked AJ. Feeley sucks and you should finally realize that. Saban is bringing this team in the right direction. you cant rebuild a team overnight. Gus is a good qb to have start for a year but i can garauntee you that saban doesnt see him starting more then 2 years at the most. Saban didnt see a good young qb to get this year so he is waiting for the right one. next offseason we will get a young quarterback. AJ is the worst quarterback that i saw play last year and he hasnt improved at all since then so jsut face that he sucks and quit criticizing Saban and let him do his job.

So you're saying Saban and Linehan don't do what's best for the team but just pick their friends to start? Did you watch any of the preseason games? Sure, Gus didn't wow anyone but neither did A.J.

Furthermore, Nick Saban HAS addressed this position. He brought in Gus and he gave Brock Berlin a shot. You can't just click your fingers and a franchise QB appears. If you do recall, we did have a small problem called running back last season so we drafted one. We also did our best to tighten up the line to help our QB. But to say Gus won the job because he's Linehan's buddy is really not something I'd expect coming from someone like you, man.
