We've been duped

I think you hit the nail on the head. Was to be expected though.

Me personally, would like to see Sage start. He's the only one who went out and did his job, while F&F were too busy playing hot patato for the starting job.

Agreed. Although you know people will say that he did it against 3rd and 4th stringers.......of course he was playing WITH 3rd and 4th stringers himself and still getting the job done. I'm all for giving Sage a shot.

Nice work Fin-atic.

Has anybody called you a bills fan yet?

Not yet. Just about everythig else. I guess I should suck up and be a homer and celebrate everything done in the name of Miamo Dolphins. Sorry, you can't feed me $hit and tell me it's chocolate candy. If it is bad its bad. If it is good its good. I call it as I see it.

No lack of love for the team, I just disagree this was ever really a competition. If it was then the one who performed would start. Sage Rosenfels.

#5 Picking Matt Roth, channiong Crowder, and Travis Daniels When we could have picked Kyle Orton. Enough said. We need Daniels and Crowder is going to be good. But was it worth not drafting a QB? I am not sure it was. I would have setteld for Crowder, Orton, and Daniels.

It's impossible to predict how draft players are going to turn out. Saban just picked the best players available. How do you know Orton isn't going to be a bust? He's look good in preseason but big deal, he could fail horribly when an important game is on the line. It's silly to base anything on what's been seen in the preseason.

there was a competition :) it was for the 2nd position.. it was between sage and AJ

No disagreeing with my opinion is fine.
Making comments about me personally because I have an opinion violates the TOS.

I am not taking that crap this year.

come on fin-atic give him a shot at a game that counts and then talk again after a couple of games

We both know there are no gurantees. But you have to address positions of need. We have ni guarantee Ronnie will work out. That's just how the draft goes. But they definitely don't work out if you don't draft them.

We will see how it goes.

I am a fan. When Gus lines up I will be cheering like crazy for him. If he does great I will be the first one one here and eating my words. That would be a pleasure because that means we are winning, and that is all I care about.

Lets see how he does.

I'm sure if Sage had a say in the matter, he'd be taking snaps with the first team. Just because the guy was never included in the competition is no reason to shun him out. Like I said, he did the job he was asked to do, the the other guys didn't. It's really that simple.

By the way, what's with all the hating on fin-atic? He's entitled to his opinion, and should be allowed to share it without the personal attacks. Some of you people really need to grow up.

Thanks Kud!
Some people don't get the process. I know the Mods I have reported have communicated that they are beign educated. That is why this is the best fan site in the NFL. They do not allow that crap to go on here.

Sage did play against backups, I am nit sure he is the answer based on how he played last year when he got his shot. But if we are going to say this was a compeition, then let it be a competition and let the guy who played best start. Sage.

This was never a QB compeitition.

It was always Gus's job. He is Linehan's buddy.

If you look at all preseason games combined, there was nothing to indicate Gus wins. In fact Gus never even scored a TD. and missed terribly on open WRs.

No doubt neither are starting caliber, but I would rather see Sage get a shot. At least he showed fire and the ability to make plays. Gus was as benign and inaffective as well...Jay Fiedler.

Gus Fiedler.

Open comment to Nick Saban:

Nick you better pull a rabbut out of your a$$ on the QB. You picked up no answer here, and you drafted no future (and there was some good young talent there). YOU have handicapped this team going into the season by failing to address the most important position, one everyone knew was a problem. Strike one.

Yeah, there really was no competition. Because certainly no coach ever wants to see one QB out perform another in camp and pre-season, they just want to stick with the same old QB no matter how good or bad he is......

I had toruble following what you were saying. I recognized you were beig obviously sarcastic which is fine. But you lost me about the place where you said "they just want to stick with the same old QB". I think I know what you were trying to say.

If I had to guess I would say that Saban wanted it to be an open competition and then he concentrated his attention on the defense. Linehan obliged, but knew all along that Gus was his guy. When AJ played better until this very last game, Gus was a hard sell. Then AJ's less than stellar performance opened the door for Linehan to keep his guy at the top.
Far fetched? maybe. But I don't think so.

Linehan brought Gus here to start. Period. The scary thing is this guy knows the system inside and out, and barely won out. AJ was still learning to play the game at the Pro level (less than a full season starting), his third offense in two years, and STILL had enough talent to almost take the job. That is why I think he has the upside that Gus does not.

Personally feeley didnt outperform Gus. Gus led the team to a TD against TB.. so what if he didnt throw it.. he doesnt call the plays.. but he led the team downfield.. and scored points?

AJ was as bad as GUS... but personally.. AJ was the incumbent.. so IMO it was his job to lose.

A bad trade for a 5th draft pick and 3rd string QB doesnt mean he deserves to start.
He was auditioning all of last year. He was being auditioned in mini camps.
The selection of players go beyond what equates on the field during playoff games. How he prepares, practices.. how the other players feel about his ability to be a leader. There are many factors.. and yes.. the obvious... who the OC prefers.

Look man you guys need to come down. Saban asked all of us to be paitient. He aint gonna come in a and take us to a Super Bowl right away. It takes time. Give him time to do stuff. Not just a couple months.
