We've been duped

thats childish.

Look, that was hardly a bitter insult. he made a comment that was rather apropos. I read through most of this thread and saw at least 4 posts of yours crying out for TOS violations and for the mods to come do something to back you up. Stop being such a baby and put forth your argument on your opinion, and listen to others. If you don't like what they say, don't go crying to your moderator mommy. People are going to have other opinions, deal with it.

back to the phins-

i think you are too much a conspiracy theorist and a Feeley homer. both the QBs suck, just admit to it. As has already been said 100 times, Gus just sucked less. Gus also had a TD pass to Gilmore in that first game. Gus also didn't throw an INT that went for 6 points the other way. that alone is good enough in my book to pick him over AJ.

Whatever ends up happening will not matter, as we will all still root for the phins. I just hope they get the QB situation sorted out. I almost wish we had more preseason games...

What a crock of bull. I have expicitily explained my position in detail and thoroughly. The comments being made were personal and were in violation and they were reported. I don't care if people diagree with me. Look at "PaintoPleasures" post in this thread. Well thought out and on topic. He was not compelled to hurl insults or derogatory comments. He just stated his case. Perfect. He disagrees which is fine. If you can not see the difference then you are just not trying. I am not a cry baby, I am just not going to take this kind of crap this year.

If you are making your opinion on the QB position because Feeley giving up 6, I guess you fogot that Gus fumbled and it was returned 69 yards by Pittsburgh. So what's the difference?

My point is that Gus has not outplayed AJ, they both suck. But since the compeititon was phoney it doesn't matter, and I think we should have brought in real talent for the position.

AJ might have a semi good arm, but he doesnt have any poise to run a squad. He looks scared, and timid when he's out there. Plus, my goodness, how many nfl qb's are as CONSISTENT as him when it comes for throwing td's to the other team....i bet he has got to be close to owning the record for that stih...lets see, atleast 6 last year, and 1, maybe 2 in the preseason this year. he's horrible. granted gus aint much better, but hes a vet, and that (along with leadership) goes a long way in my book. imo.

You also forget that players like Gus. Randy McMichael specifically said that Gus is a good leader in the huddle and commands the team. That's more important than anything we've seen in the preseason.

Understand your point. And yes, neither outplayed eachother. I don't agree that it was a "phoney" competition. I think Saban waited to see if one would out perform the other. Gus was ahead in the beginning because he knew the system. Neither one stepped up, so he went with Gus who has more experience. Sage (possibly) outperformed both guys so he moves up to #2. I think that is fair competition. Maybe it wasn't, but I was not at any practices/games to evaluate. Saban was. As for the we SHOULD have brought someone in stuff. Who? Couch? Couch sucks like the rest of em. Maybe Orton? ok, maybe. He had a great preseason, does that mean he is the savior? Maybe. There was not a great QB out there. I also hope that he will work on bringing one in if someone is an upgrade. The names mentioned on this site have not been upgrades IMO.

I had toruble following what you were saying. I recognized you were beig obviously sarcastic which is fine. But you lost me about the place where you said "they just want to stick with the same old QB". I think I know what you were trying to say.

If I had to guess I would say that Saban wanted it to be an open competition and then he concentrated his attention on the defense. Linehan obliged, but knew all along that Gus was his guy. When AJ played better until this very last game, Gus was a hard sell. Then AJ's less than stellar performance opened the door for Linehan to keep his guy at the top.
Far fetched? maybe. But I don't think so.

Linehan brought Gus here to start. Period. The scary thing is this guy knows the system inside and out, and barely won out. AJ was still learning to play the game at the Pro level (less than a full season starting), his third offense in two years, and STILL had enough talent to almost take the job. That is why I think he has the upside that Gus does not.

Yeah, you got what i was trying to say. The sarcasm throws people off i know. It's just that i'm not suprised at anything that came from this situation, i dont know if should be, but i'm really not. Your right about Linehan and Gus, your right about Saban as well.

This was never a QB compeitition.

It was always Gus's job. He is Linehan's buddy.

If you look at all preseason games combined, there was nothing to indicate Gus wins. In fact Gus never even scored a TD. and missed terribly on open WRs.

No doubt neither are starting caliber, but I would rather see Sage get a shot. At least he showed fire and the ability to make plays. Gus was as benign and inaffective as well...Jay Fiedler.

Gus Fiedler.

Open comment to Nick Saban:

Nick you better pull a rabbut out of your a$$ on the QB. You picked up no answer here, and you drafted no future (and there was some good young talent there). YOU have handicapped this team going into the season by failing to address the most important position, one everyone knew was a problem. Strike one.

Maybe AJ just sucked when he had his chance. It's quite possible the coaches think a bad game from Gus is not as bad as a bad game from Feeley. AJ has had so many opportunities to take the #1 job it's bodering on rediculous. Each time he was handed the reins he dropped them.

Give Saban some time. He can only bring in so many players in 1 year. The mess this team was left in by the previous regime will not be cleaned up overnight.

Agreed. Although you know people will say that he did it against 3rd and 4th stringers.......of course he was playing WITH 3rd and 4th stringers himself and still getting the job done. I'm all for giving Sage a shot.

Hello Everyone I am back form my 24 hour vacation :-)

My point here is simple yes its easier for crappy wr's to get open vs crappy db's but in the same sense it is much easier for crappy defensive lineman to pass rush crappy o-lineman which since our # 1 o-line sucks you can only imagine what kind of talent and blocking skills our # 2's and 3's have!

My God people move on... there will still be people whining about AJ/Gus when the last game is played. Why can't we just drop the QB debate. Let the players play and then pick that apart. Speculation is just that! If the current QB tanks and doesn't hold up his part, then we can attack him, but give him a chance to get there first.

sage should be the damn starter.

AJ AND GUS WILL NOT BE OUR FUTURE.
Same thing was said about Lucas, Greise, AJ, Brock, etc. Grass is always greener...oh by the way, I don't think Gus or AJ or Sage is the answer, so relax.

like the guy before said, move on!

Neither will Sage. I think starting Gus was the worst option though. If we're going to suck Id rather suck finding out if Feeley or Sage can play.

:yell: All you impatient fans want to win right away. This organization will take 3 yrs to be a very good team. Just face it, we're not going to the super bowl this year. Stop hating on Saban.:yell: :fire: :fire: :fire:

Finally someone with some sense of what is really going on around here.

Guys, chill out....this team is NOT going to the playoffs, and it is not going to be a .500 team. More than likely we'll be somewhere between 3-13 and 6-10. Just get a grip about it.....we're going to have either the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th pick next year in the draft and that's all there is too it.

We'll get our next QB in the draft. This is a year to chill and watch the team, and enjoy the rest of the NFL games, and watch our team without any expectations. If they show some signs of life, that's just gravy for us.

Regardless of how Surtain, Knight and/or Chester played (or didn't play), some people here forget that we had 70%+ of our cap wrapped up on the defensive side of the ball. We knew (at least those of us who know something about football) going into this season that there were going to be some unpopular moves in order to free up cap space. I guess some people forgot about that little thing called a salary cap and the fact that we actually have to have space in order to sign FA, draft picks, etc.

Even some of us that are just regular joe fans knew that the Fins would be making these kind of hard decisions. Some folks around here just don't get it that Saban needs time to right this sinking ship. Rome wasn't built in a day.....but you can't preach that to some around here that believe we should be a playoff team this year....

I know this will take several years. But man, I just want to see this offense at least get in the middle ground fo the NFL. I do not know how you do that with a suck QB and a suck OLine.

Give Saban a chance. Maybe in his assessment of the team the easier fix is the defense, and he started there. Once he has that done, he'll turn his attn to the offense....its obvious that will be harder to fix, but he has some great minds in the game of football to help him, and I think you'll be pleased in 2 years with the progress that we make.

yeah right a good coach that destroyed a franchise little by little he won because those players wernt his JJ Drafted put them in. the only thing was pick up RW. The D was Bates D.

Sorry Dave was a good guy but as a coach he has killed two franchises Bears and Dolphins.

And after watching Pitt the other night, you can already see his (losing) influence over the Panthers. They will be sorry they hired him and by the end of the season he'll be on the hot seat. I say he lasts until the end of next year and is then fired.
