We've been duped

What bugs me about Frerotte is that he overthrows his receivers as much as Fiedler did. And everyone keeps saying that it'll be corrected over time, but it never did with Fiedler. So what's to say it's going to happen now?

I've said it before, I'll say it again. We have NO QB. And if Saban sticks to someone just for the sake of "continuity"... I'm going to be very sad because this team wouldn't have found a true HC, either.

Say what you want about Saban, but he is dropping the ball on this one.

how can you compare jay fiedler to frerotte? I dont think we have to worry about frerotte's arm strength on a "15 and out" and i rememeber defenses sometimes didnt even worry about specific zones because they knew fiedler wouldnt be able to reach across the field with great velocity...thats just me though :)

basically, this thread reads like a long-winded, round-a-bout way to complain that feeley isn't starter. anyone else get that impression?

AJ will be like Brian Griese. when he has a legitimate offensive line in front of him he'll put up good numbers. They're exactly the same type of qb. This team is simply turning into a training ground for other teams QBs

AJ doesn't have BG's decision making ability. BG was a pro-bowler until he hurt is shoulder years before he came to Miami. We're not a training ground as lately we've either had sub-par QB's which none want or trying to target older care-taker's. BG is the only exception that has gone on to be good....and he had skills and proved it years before.

They are mirror images of each other. Read some of the scouting reports on the two and they are identical. Both are horrible under pressure. Both are bad "decision makers". What Griese has had however are cioaches that knew his strengths and weaknesses and played to it. There is zero difference between the two other than one is going to be playing and the other is waiting for his walking papers

nothing personal.....but you can't be serious? BG is a former 1st round pro-bowler who started after one year when Elway retired and played great and is once again showing his ability. Feeley? A 5th round player who was 3rd string who can't make good decisions, couldn't beat out Fiedler and can't now beat out another #2 QB / Gus ? Come on.....

Everything you just stated to back up your point is meaningless when analyzing talent. They are the same QB. They are stiff QBs who have zero mobility, rattle under pressure but have strong accurate arms when given time. AJ has looked the way he has because of the team he's on. Griese has looked the way he has because of the teams he's been on. When Griese was here he looked like nothing becvause of our oline mainly wade smith. I'm just saying that we're making the same mistake now that we made then. rather than fix the problem that needs to be fixed - the oline - we're giving the job to another similar qb frerotte. gus is going to look like dirt too behind our line

looks like you're saying brian griese was a 1st rounder. he was a 3rd rounder.

I think Saban is going to try to address the Oline. He did in the offseason but the asking price for the FA's he wanted was too high. I think in next year's draft, which is supposed to be heavy on Olinemen, we'll take one or two. Fiedler had to go for "political" reasons plus his cap was set to increase. AJ was still barely getting his feet wet so Saban wanted to see more but also bring in another QB w/some "real" experience to possibly take the reigns if AJ couldn't cut it....and although Gus doesn't look great....he isn't making many of the silly mistakes that AJ is which is why he isn't starting. Saban can only address so many issues in one offseason with one draft and a set cap to work with. The QB is just temporary until next year, hopefully.....

nah i can't agree. the bucs don't have a great offensive line either. they happen to have a qb friendly system with quick patterns and an emphasis on possession receivers. if you want us to change our offensive system, that's another thing.

when griese was here, he had the misfortune of playing when wade smith decided to have his worst games ever.

Perfectly stated. I think that is exactly what happened and I hope that we add at least 2 more offensive linemen next year

I stand corrected he was the 91st player taken in the 98 draft...Guess I got  there for min....(I had actually typed in Montana instead of Elway but corrected that....I'm tired at work...lol).

Some info on Griese is listed below......now tell me how Feeley stacks up to him....?

Depending on where we wind up in the draft (order) will determine how we target Olinemen (FA or draft)...cuz that will decide what amount of $ we'll need in cap space for our 1st rd pick (hopefully a QB) vs. free space in the FA market. Hopefully we'll grab 1-2 in the draft and 1-2 in FA to possibly booster the secondary or maybe grab a starting role.
