What about Tim Couch

feeley's tough, but from everything i've seen/read about him, I've never gotten an impression that he NEEDS to wins. He lacks the desire that makes a mortal a champion. I'll admit, i don't know feeley. I live in arizona, so i don't even get to watch the dolphins play/practice first hand. I would love to see him succeed, but i don't think (<<operative word) he has the intangibles to make him something special. Couch however doesn't have to play. He's coming off a serious injury and a seriously dissapointing start to his career. He could sit on his money (which he has plenty of) and drift into anonimity. But he's willing to throw himself back into a brutal league in front of brutal fans that both chewed him up and spit him out because he wants to play/compete. I don't dislike aj (except for the fact that he has ms mitts of the market ;) ) and i'm not trying to start anything, just giving my opinion. Again, sorry, i'm not 'you know, into the whole brevity thing'

You obviously didn't watch the dolphins play last year.

And just b/c couch wants to make more money and sign with a team he should be better than AJ? Is this your opinion?

my opinion (recently formulated): you are stupid

I'm the stupid one? Watch football before commenting on it. You obviously know nothing about the game or the people you mention..

At best Couch would be "Jay"-like for the Dolphins. We already have enough mediocre QBs. Our next GREAT QB is not coming off the scrap heap He will be found in the draft(hopefuly in the next one)

Did you watch him play and get killed last year? Just to come back in and get killed again. Now you think he is just here b/c his hot girlfriend told him to be here? :shakeno:

Did you see the passion of couch when he was on the browns? I didn't and niether did the coach, that is why Holcolm won the job. He wasn't better than couch. He just showed he had MORE HEART that season and he had more respect from the team. Go back and look at that facts before giving your outlook.

Thanks for the long story, very entertaining.

Actually your way off. Couch had alot of passion and heart and played hurt most of the time and its costing him now. A couple of defensive players not on the team anymore were vocal about Kelly over Couch. However the offense ( including Kevin Johnson the only other decent player they have had) wanted Couch on the field. He got sacked one game like 4 times bc his line was....well like ours. After the third sack he got up slow.....they didnt stick Kelly in then......and threw and int. The fans booed him. The guy was almost in tears after the game. Passion was never something he lacked. So maybe you both need to go back and look at the facts. Butch Davis killed that team and he may have killed this kids football future.

If hes healed hes worth a LOOK. To say otherwise is stupid. Wed have nothing to lose and its possible wed have alot to gain ( even if its just a good backup)

You must not watch alot of Browns football, there QBs are always hurt, He Holcome Garcia last year. Cant stay healthy behine there line which has been one of the worst in the NFL the past five seasons.

Are you seriously trying to say that Cleveland had a line as bad as ours last year.

You must not watch a lot of Dolphins football.

Dont laugh! Yes I know Tim Couch washed out in Cleveland and a lot of quarterbacks much better would have done the same with the lack of talent surrounding them. It didnt help that Couch was beat up as well. But hey the guy is a gamer, looks to be healthy after shoulder and eye laser surgery and is refocused. Couch is about a month away from being able to try out and it wont hurt to bring him in for a tryout. He has better stuff than Feeley or Frerotte and at the least could be the Dolphins second or third string quarterback. There are a number of guarterbacks who get drafted high, dont get it done as they are forced into action and then later bounce back with solid careers. Couch sames to have learnt from his past and wants to play to win. He very well could be the Fins quarterback of the present and future if completely healthy and wont cost a lot to sign for a year or two. Plus he is only 27.
I hate to hear that some cracked guy like Couch will upgrade our QB troops.
Of course that A.J. was playing mugball behind that OL and perhaps he'll lost against Frerotte and i really want Saban to select the best available QB.
But as i see it, there's no way to use Tim Couch as our 3th string QB, he is trying to come back, but this year Miami's 3th string will be a player to backup and develop, and Tim is loooking for something different. He wants a decent option to recover and play.
Miami may help him recover, but never will place him to play because as i see it, Miami will trash out in 2006 him who fails between Feeley and Frerotte, and surely will trade or select a QB in draft. If we were out of playoff berth by the 12th week, Saban will be building his 2006 team, so he'll see a lot of Sage and Brock and no more of AJ and Gus.
The only way that Feeley makes the team in 2006 is to improve and win this season titularity, so maybe we'll see what this guy can play. Mugball or Football?

Ferotte and Feeley are both miles better than Couch, teams have brought Couch in numerous times since he left Cleveland and he's done nothing to show he's any good except get a short stint with the Packers and be so miserable he gets cut. You can waste time bringing him in, but it really is pointless. He wouldn't be better than any QB we already have and it's just useless.....

Couch was hurt, did you not read the article. Couch has put up better numbers than AJ even with AJ being with an awesome Philly team around him. AJ is not a starter in this league. He was not even a starter in college. Some of you were talking about Tim not beating out Kelly, well AJ couldn't beat out Harrington.
WHat is the harm in giving him a tryout. Are you really guys getting some sort of kick back if AJ starts?? AJ has ZERO chance of leading us to a .500 record, where Tim has shown he can play in this league. Please show me where it could hurt the team. Are you really saying if he is healthly he is not better than Brock or Sage?? You guys need to worry more about what is better for the team instead of being right about AJ. Face it your not. AJ is not the long term answer to anything, except maybe being the back up clip board holder.:shakeno:

Miami did not have as bad a line as the Texans last year. By the end of the season the Oline was not that bad at all. Other teams just knew that if they brought more people than we could block that AJ would not be able to find the outlet guy. EVERY team blitzed the crap out of us. Why not, we had no running game and a QB that couldn't read defenses or make quick decisions. Our oline was not the worst in history as some of you try to make it out to be. Jay played behind it when it was still early and they were playing the worst and he put up higher numbers than AJ.
You guys really need to lose that arguement, it doesn't hold water.

Yes, I think that goes without saying. You have proven that a few times over now.
AJ is not a team leader or player. Jay showed ten times more heart than AJ. Gus will be the starter if we don't find someone with long term possibilities. Couch could be that. Give him a chance. At least we don't have to give up a 2nd round pick to see if he can help us. He has 10 times the resume that AJ has. AJ is and always has been a back up. Next year AJ will not be a dolphin, and probably not in the league.

What is wrong with some of you?

The same people who are bashing Feeley non stop, talk about giving couch a chance?
Feeley has yet to get the reps in TC not ever w/ with the first team, had all the garbage to deal with last year. And people just right him off just to come back and say "hey couch.....I remember him let's give him a shot".

RIDICULOUS.

What has couch shown in the nfl that would make you want him a part of this team? And don't answer with "what has feeley done?"....That isn't my point. My point is the same people who are ready to bring in a bust are the same who condemn feeley. WHY?

What has he done? ... he ran for his life & still took a team that had absolutely ZERO weapons to the playoffs! Did you watch every Browns game during the Couch years? I did .... it isn't a comparison ... Tim Couch (if healthy) is a far better QB than Feeley. Also, Couch has a lot more experience & is still young.

I agree with the earlier assessment ... his mental condition may be the concern after Cleveland messed him up so bad.

Nicely put I was just about to comment if hes healthy take a look but I don't think he should be our starter because I believe Miami needs a proven quarterback and thats one thing I think we will be missing this season.

Steve Young wasn't close to the way Tim Couch is because Steve Young had the ability to be a system QB with the talent to run, throw and make smart plays. Neither of which Tim Couch has EVER shown in Cleveland or even when he played very good in college. He was over rated, and if you WATCHED the game you'd be able to see that by looking at the way he plays as a QB. But i guess you never have, thats why your suggesting Miami take a look at him when if their entire farm of QB's were all killed Tim Couch would be the last man on earth that the team would look at.

Ok maybe not that drastic, but Miami isn't going to take a look at him because it's hopeless. Couch is through, he should just go take his money and enjoy his life because his playing days are over the kid couldn't cut it in professional football.

You really need to do a little research before running your big mouth. It just shows your lack of football knowledge.

1986 - Young's 2nd year in TB:

14 games 2282 yds 13 int 8 td 53.7% 65.5 qb rating

1999 - Couch's 1st year!

14 games 2447 yds 13 int 15 td 55.9% 73.2 qb rating

Plain as black & white. Young was soooo sought after he left to become A BACKUP at SF!!!!! If he was that promising why didn't any team give him a starting job?
