What Are The Dolphins Cheerleaders Worth?

They attend events like a car dealer, who is paying a lot in advertising, season ticket sales events at the stadium, charitable events to help the team's community image, the calendars, etc. and get nothing. Pay them something fair for what they do. You would lose one hell of a lot more without them.

They get paid for events and appearances.

Not a lot

And if they push the nfl about money teams will just get rid of them as afaik has already started

Ok thats a valid point, but what about all their hours they spend on the job practicing for those 3 hours of work? Should those hours NOT be compensated as well?
No. I shoot camera and edit. No one pays me to learn how, keep my computer updated and know the programs. When I get hired out to shoot sports, no one pays me to drive there and stuff like that. Shooting sports or concerts is generally not great pay because everyone wants to do it, however when I freelance I charge a good amount. They need to find other ways to round out their income.

Further, it is not really a long term career is it? Can't see a cheerleader doing the long haul 25 year commitment or anything.

But yes a fair wage should be paid, less than minimum wage is horrible. But honestly there are lots of people in worse situations.

From what they said on the show, they only get paid the $125 for home games, and nothing more other than expenses.

So, if you include that time, you average $3-6 dollars an hour?

They do get paid for public appearances - like charities and other public events. They don't get paid for team promotional appearances.

I am of the personal opinion that it's quite obnoxious when people get offended on behalf of others. If the cheerleaders want to fight for their wage rights, then I fully support it. Minimum wage would be a good start, but I think people are missing the fact that this isn't just a "job" to them. There are tons of girls trying out, and they find it a huge honor just to have the opportunity to be a cheerleader in the NFL. It's not like the NFL is prospecting for these girls, they show up by the truckload just for the opportunity to tryout. I agree with a minimum wage, but I think people should realize there isn't much of a value beyond that. The problem here is that they're replaceable as can be.

isn't that pretty much what the players do? Come in droves to try out? But only the best make it and they get paid big bucks! Yes we are there to watch the game so obviously most the money goes to that. But if they are there and are adding to the overall entertainment value of the whole thing, they should be paid as such. Fact is, the teams want cheerleaders, its part of football, and if they are the best at what they do and provide a service they should get paid for it fairly.

That's not the point for me, I was only addressing if you should get paid for such things. Do I think their pay sucks, yes.
They should get paid more, but not compensated for being in shape, makeup and gas to get to the stadium or whatever. It's obvious from the info, that they can't look at this as a career.

Does anyone remember back to when we were at least SUPPOSED to be a capitalist country?? Anyone ever hear of a free market society, where the free market sets the values?? Simple laws of supply and demand is what should be setting values, not someones opinion. If an employer can find the quality of employees he desires for minimum wage, and there are hundreds of qualified employees lining up to try and work for that wage, where is the problem??

If these ladies don't want to work for the dolphins then quit. When enough of them quit the price will go up. It's really that simple. When some bleeding heart, or big government comes in and tries to override the system that made this country great, there is only one way this country can go and that is down. I mean we can always just force the owners to pay them a million a year, then triple the ticket prices, right??

 I have to admit that truely made me Laugh Out Loud. So your stance is that the difference between girl X (the last girl to make the team) and girl X+1 is going to make a bit of difference to anyone showing up to pay money to see a game?? I mean if the girls were spitting tobacco wearing unmatching outifits and showed up drunk as a skunk, do you really think their would be one person in the stands saying "cheerleaders suck, I won't be coming back to any more games" ?? To be quite honest I would pay more if the girls were drunk and having cat fights on the field during commercials.

Not sure if you were being serious, but if you really think the difference between talent in the cheerleaders, and the difference in talent between the players, is a reasonable comparrison, then I'm just going to say you are in the extreme minority.

I'm surprised with some posts on this. First and foremost, a minimum wage is the law in this country. Hell, in construction, I pay guys $10 an hour to sweep floors.

Then, you go to all the appearances they make for the team, where they get nothing but expenses, as well as the calendar shoots, where the team does make money. It is not the right thing to do.

I love our cheerleads, and cannot believe that there are any thinking they should not be paid as much as a guy sweeping floors. Anyone think getting rid of them is a better idea?
If you really have a problem with it then pay the ladies yourself. What I can't believe is that there are those out there who think they have the right to tell someone else how much to pay their employees. If you think they should make more then pay em, but don't ask the owner to do it. He has already allowed the amount the position is worth to him. Either they work for what he is willing to pay or the next girl will. If they run out of girls then he might have to consider raising the price, but that shouldn't be the issue of an outsider.
