What did media pundits see we that didn't?

In a normal year Indy would be fine w/ a competent QB, they dragged a 40+ yr old out of retirement weeks before the season. many in the media expected Indy to fall this year WITH Peyton. Brady has been the best and most important player for this generation.

NE won 10 games w/ Cassell as a starter, a year after winning SIXTEEN againsta tougher sched. Cassell also won a div title w/ KC and was w/ NE for years learning under Brady. The 2 situations are completely different.

We all know you're completely lost when it comes to Peyton Manning.... you've made that clear several hundred times. We get it.

Jim Caldwell doesn't even know what to do... he can't even coach without Peyton Manning being out there to run the offense. The Colts would be in contention and be a playoff team with Peyton this year just like they always are.

Fact is, the Patriots went 11-5 with a QB who hadn't started a game since high school. That doesn't do a lot to prove the case for Brady being more important to his team than Manning is to his.... because he's not as long as they have Bill Beli...

people need to stop taking what the media says so seriously. They have their reasons for saying we'll be 5-11 or whatever and contrary to what homers think its not a conspiracy theory. Would you rather they do this:

Patriots: Its the Patriots, they have Brady. 11-5 and AFCE champions
NYJ: Ryan's defense will deliver the goods and Sanchez has real potential. 11-5 and AFCE champs
Dolphins: Daboll and a good off season will propel them to 11-5 and AFCE champs
Bills: Up and coming team with a lot of young talent, 11-5 and AFCE champs

So when the media says the colts would win 4 games w/o peyton they are right but when they say Indy was going to take a step back this year they aren't? got it.

Peyton is obviously an all time great but he's not Tom Brady.

NE went 10-5 w/ Cassell starting, Cassell was in that system for YEARS, that team won 16 games. a 6 game difference in wins, I promise Indy will win more than 4 games. They will not have a 6 game difference even though they have a QB they plucked off his couch 3 weeks ago. NE did this against a MUCH easier sched than the year before w/ Brady.

Indy's reign was winding down anyway, sure they would have been much better w/ Peyton but this team wasn't going to compete for an AFC Title this year. he had his last shot when he threw awya the SB 2 years ago- has Brady ever done that?

How was Belichick doing w/o Brady? He was on the verge of being fired had Brady not become the starter in 2001 and saved his career and that franchise.

I thought Brady did a pretty good job of throwing away a superbowl by tossing picks to the Jets defense in the divisional round of the playoffs last year...

I ran a poll, basically asked fans to pick which teams they thought got worse in 2011.

Next to nobody voted for the Miami Dolphins.

Something like 75% of the people voted for the New York Jets.

That's the definition of fan bias.

exactly...and people gave me crap for laying money on the jets in vegas...the team thats gone into peyton and bradys place in the postseason and come out with the victory last year and in the afc championship game the last 2 years...get a clue people...the jets are for real...20 times the team we've got here...i don't care if we win against them on some bs kick returns again like we did a few years ago...us and the jets couldn't be further apart...

They'll likely sweep us along with the Rats

tony dungy was a product of peyton manning and poor old caldwell who doesn't know what the hell he's doing without manning is gonna take the fall...and they should hold that overrated polian accountable also...without peyton manning that team is a flat mess...best thing polian can do is hope for the top pick in the draft and jump on the back of andrew luck for the next decade to hide his deficiencies...

as for tom brady only gonna go down as likely the best qb to ever play the game...i know he's got my vote right now...

Before the season started almost every sports writer in a America had written us off as a bottom 5 team in the league. After 2 weeks... it certainly seems that we are.

This forum was abuzz with hope and optimism, and defending players on our squad regardless of the head scratching moves our FO made.

We are clearly a team in disarray. It sounds like Sparano is in jeopardy of losing the locker room. And it's only been 2 frigging weeks!

The biggest surprise of the season has been Buffalo by far. Chan Gailey... Frigging Chan Gailey has gotten that franchise playing well while we still are mired in futility.

What did we miss? winning is the only remedy. And it's likely not going to happen this season.

I respectfully disagree, I think there were a notable few buzzing with "hope and optimism." I think there were many of us who saw the same things the pundits saw before the season began.

yea but people that see us not doing well are just hater and debbie downers. How dare we see a team that has 4 of 5 losing seasons and back to back 7-9 as nothing else but a playoff contender

Not only playoff contender, but a division winner with a 12-4 record...

God, when I think there were actually a couple on here that seriously thought we were a 12-4 team, and even more that though 11-5..

5-11 at bes

Hoops - based solely on additions and subtractions this past year the Jets are better than their 2010 team?

they lost lockerroom distraction and overrated braylon edwards and picked up savvy veteran and lockerroom leader derrick mason who every year we played the ravens gave vontae davis fits...they lost injured all the time nt jenkins but did fine without him last year after he got hurt...they kept all world athlete cb cromartie to play that press man system and use that length to make plays on the ball...they kept holmes they added plax who gets away with pushing off more than randy moss did it seems if thats possible who may help them in the red zone where the offense wasn;t great last year...they added massive nose kenrick ellis in the draft who in time will probably be a monster...they drafted the 34 de from temple who so far looks pretty good wilkerson in round 1...

i just don't see where the jets got worse at all...damien woody was solid but hurt late last year and didnt want to play anymore...the oline is very solid and well coached...the only thing that team doesn't have on defense is a consistent win edge pass rusher and its why they have to blitz to get pressure so much...if they could sit back and let a say cam wake hunt on the edge that d would be inpenetrable pretty much...but its the one thing they don't have

i'm not betting against the jets anymore...i've learned my lesson the last 2 years and they went to the afc champ games

I had us going in the .500 range. Consider the fact the Dolphins could sign a troop of Girl Scouts to make up the team and still half the people on here would predict they go 10-6.

While Tony is here this team will be what it is. They have the players to be better, much better, but a HC with no vision puts the team in the hole time after time.

To answer the OP: I guess the media didn't wear their aqua colored glasses like us Phin Fans did.

I was willing to give him another chance. We're not a 2-14 win team or anything like that, but we're 0-2 now and it's time to move on.
