What did we actually expect?

This is a serious question for those who share your point of view, and only you can be honest with yourselves about the answer.

Would it make all of you happier to be wrong about Tua and have him and the Dolphins be successful, or would it make you happier to be right about Miami making a mistake about signing Tua and see the team do poorly so you can say "I told you so"?

Shame on anyone whose first reaction was to think "See, I told everyone on Finheaven so". Let's have just a little dignity and respect for what's happening before we start patting ourselves on the back for something potentially terrible happening to a player on the team we supposedly love.

Well stated, bdizzle.

To be just, though, the "I told yah so's" are deserved.

Many on this forum were still advocating TRADING UP for Tua EVEN AFTER THE COLOSSAL HIP INJURY.

The minority tried to call attention to Tua being injury prone & THE HIGH SOCIETY OF THIS FORUM LAUGHED THEM OFF.

Now, could anyone foresee CONCUSSIONS being a problem? Common, man. That's on no one. That's just the curse doing its thang.

Tua is a very talented QB. He turned me into a forever fan in Baltimore. This is/should be a depressing day for any true Phins fan whether you licked Tua's arse or wanted to put a boot in it.

Onward we go...

Personally, I don't think we've seen the last of Tua. I think he's going to be playing again sooner rather than later. No insight, just gut feeling.

It's going to be tough holding our collective breaths every time he scrambles, takes a sack, or gets hit, but I think that's going to be our reality for the next few years. I certainly wish that wasn't the case.

"When Tua has been out".... Which is happening more frequently. Kind of a huge issue given the importance of the position, no?
By the numbers Tua has missed less games than Burrow and Herbert in his career. Obviously concussions are a major issue and he COULD be done. But the idea he is more injury prone than his peers, particularly in the 2020 draft, is not totally accurate.

The Bengals OL has gotten Burrow hurt multiple times. I’d imagine any QB playing in Miami would get hurt behind our dumpster fire OL. Two years ago, Teddy and Skylar both got immediately hurt backing up Tua after his 1st and 2nd concussion.

My point is maybe the team is part of the issue. Any QB on this roster is going to get hit a lot.

This lack of a #3 WR rings hollow to me. We have one of the best WR tandems in the league. We have an exciting running back who's a pass catching threat. We now have a pass catching TE. Our offense shouldn't live or die on whether we have a legit #3 receiver. God forbid Hill or Waddle misses a game, would our offense come to a halt b/c we also don't have a #4 receiver. The Bills don't even have a legit #1 receiver and they have no problem scoring points.

If Tua is our QB for the next few years, we'll, something would be very wrong with that. I think I would just be a casual fan and not really pay attention until we move on.

He really needs to be done playing football.

Agreed.

This is still how the game is won.
Yup. This organization made decisions that have historically not worked out for teams in the post 1994, free agency NFL landscape. But, Grier looked at 30 years of data and said, “nah, that can’t be right, we’re going to do it this way instead”.

I had a much longer, detailed post typed out, but I scrapped it. It was too draining to read my own words about this team, let alone making you all suffer through them. It’s not the end of the world, we’ll all live, but man, I just turned 50, this is my 42nd year of Dolphins fandom, and I realized last night, there’s really, truly, no logical reason to believe I will live long enough to see this team win, and especially won’t see them win while my dad is still alive.

I’m skipping the gym today and am just getting one slice of every flavor of cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory instead. I’m drowning my sorrows in sugar. Thanks, Dolphins.

Edit: I’m so annoyed with this team that I’m spelling simple words incorrectly.

Tua to the side, and all prayers for him......but we were getting our butts kicked before he got hurt. I know we had injuries late last year, and that gave me some hope to maybe expect something different, especially with Buffalo losing some key players during the off season. However last year, IMHO the biggest issues on the team were OL, play calling, and no legit #3 receiver.

Losing Williams and Hunt make this OL even worse. The fact that Grier came out and basically laughed at everyone questioning the OL just shows me the guy doesn't get it and never will. The play calling was the same forceful crap that doesn't work against good teams, and he was late AGAIN several times leading to wasted timeouts. McD needs to give up play calling now! I mean how many times can you run a FB dive successfully?

Lastly, the first 2 Tua ints were based largely on our 3rd receiver not running the route correctly. The last one although a bad Tua mistake was based on the fact that our OL sucks and Armstead was out again.

When you don't address problems and issues, and actually regress in some instances.......can you really expect a different outcome?
As one of the posters who faced criticism and insults for demanding we fix the Oline, you'd think, I'd take comfort in knowing everyone has finally woke up to reality.

But I don't. I ****ing hate this!

I did hold him accountable, but this is where YOU can't let it go.........Tua regardless of how much you hate him is FAR from this teams biggest issue. Anyone who has any football IQ would know that.......but keep on pushing that I was right mantra as though Tua has been our biggest issue. By the way, you are absolutely wrong.
Wasn't the biggest issue, of course not! Heck and why would we expect that with the player with the highest salary on the team? He must be a real difference maker in the middle of adversity with that kind of money... there's always hope if he's in the game. We didn't feel that with Tua.

Before the injury we saw the offense stagnate numerous times and many of us were losing faith in the offense's ability to generate a spark. Tua being the highest paid player, we expect him to elevate the team around him and find ways to win. This ability wasn't evident. We faced a playoff caliber team and we saw the same sputtered offense that closed out last season. Whether we want to hate on Allen or not, he's progressing with less talent. Improvising and extending plays. Well worth the contract he has!

I don't have an issue with Tua at all. I think he sits in the 10-15 range of QBs in the league. Unfortunately, he is absolutely needed in this offensive scheme due to his quick release.

The front office chose to not have a good offensive or defensive lines (maybe they didn't choose it, they just drafted poorly). I believe we may have the best receivers and running backs in the league, but without a line, it doesn't matter. I also feel that our defensive backs and linebackers are very good, but without a defensive line who can't get to the QB, it doesn't matter. This new theory that lines don't matter, appears to have blown up in our face. Although I hope I'm wrong.

After the game, I expected tons of people who don't post here regularly to show up and say "I told you so"
For the record….I told my self…”I told you so”…lol

Every year I have hope that this is our year and every year I am disappointed.

I totally agree. I hated the pick since day one, but I will continue to support him as a fan and as a person. This will most likely go down as one of the biggest busts ever for our franchise. So much time and money wasted, and for the love of God, this organization needs to move on. Are we going to play him until one day he doesn’t get up? Such a sad day to be a Fins fan. Hopefully, our front office handles this appropriately. God Bless Tua, take your millions, invest it properly, go back to Hawaii, get a nice job as a high school coach and enjoy spending your time with your family.

You and ne both. I have been screaming to fix the o line for 15 ****ing years now... Good God!

Prior to what happened to Uce I had already lost pretty much all the confidence I had in this team during that nightmare of a football game.

I bought into it and some folks were unfortunately correct….. this team regressed in the offseason. Significantly.

Never thought I’d really miss DeShon Elliot until I saw Medicare member Poyer out there last night. Slow as **** and consistently out of position. Ugh.

I would've called the highlighted question ABSURD if not for a repeat of gang signs last night.

That wasn't even a hard collision & Tua initiated the blow. You can't even trust the kid to take care of himself at this point.
