I know all the talk is about rebuilding, especially in the trenches. At the very least, it appears the team is ready to play younger players meaning some veterans will be gone. Wake, Jones and maybe Quinn on defense etc.

But, things can change in a hurry in the NFL. Maybe the new coach gets the defense going, maybe a couple of draft picks exceed expectations, perhaps someone like Ballage or Drake busts out with more playing time.

What do you think it would take for the Dolphins to be a surprise contender next season?

A coach of hall of fame caliber, a qb of hof caliber, and a direct influence from God Almighty. Oh, and the Pats to lose a few more.than the last 15 yrs

1) Upper echelon QB

2) Healthy Josh Sitton

3) Upper echelon Center

4) True number 1 Receiver

5) Starting Corner

6) Edge Pass Rusher

7) Run stuffing DT (with interior pass rush ability wouldn't hurt).

I think it would have to be an innovative coach who can collect a good teaching staff and an excellent QB.

That's funny. Miami could hit big on a quarterback, though. You just never know. I remember Patrick Mahomes dropping to #10 and being talked about as extremely raw. Now, he's one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. Obviously, he went into a great situation with Andy Reid.

I'm not expecting Miami to contend, especially looking at the roster. Too many holes. But, I also know how dramatically one or two new additions can change a lineup. Zeke Elliott and Dak Prescott for the Cowboys a few years back as one example.
