What'd you think of Roth???

I think Roth's future is at outside linebacker in a 3-4. He's too small to be a big time DE in the NFL... at least right now he is. So, if he can bulk up, he could be more effective at DE, or he could stand up in a 3-4 opposite JT ;) . With Zach and Seau/Crowder in the middle, Traylor/Chester at NT, Carter, and someone hopefully stepping up on the other side (Holliday/Vickerson/Wright/Zgonina?); they could do some damage blitzing any of the linebackers and having some playmakers free to hit.

I can't wait to see the 3-4 alignments they throw in during each game, and am curious how much they would benefit from being in an unknown alignment (to the other team, of course) only a handful of times each game.

He's a rookie.

I'm sure I won't see "he's gonna challenge Jason Taylor" crap anymore.

Or DBow or Carter or Holliday for that matter. I wonder if this will also put an end to the whole giving a nickname and making up chants for him threads as well. He's a rookie and I don't expect him to be that awesome just yet.

Matt Roth: Open End #2

Roth's future is defensive end. He is about the size of Ogun. Did you expect him to just come in and dominate?

give the kid a chance...

he was a second round draft pick for a reason. if he was the next julius peppers or dwight freeney then he would have been a top 5 pick.

the knock on him out of college was that he only had one move to beat lineman and that he relied on it... he'll learn.

looked like tonight he tried to bully his way through people instead of go around them or get by them. I know that he is a rookie but he needs to learn some moves to get by these o linemen.

His motor is very beneficial. He may have trouble escaping the blocker but he has the enrgy to keep up the fight to break away. A few times I saw they double teamed him but he just pushed right through.

The tackle for a loss was impressive too. Might've as well called it a sack. He got there for the sack, forced Hutchinson back another 10 yards and then Hutchinson was caught dead and had to scramble before Maximus squashed him.

He seemed slow and a little weak. But he does have a never quit attitude. I was impressed when he was blocked down in the backfield when hutchinson was scrambling. He got up and chased him down. That deserves respect. You know in the 4th qtr this guy will still play regardless of the score.

But Wright...this guy needs 3 or 4 years. He looked entirely to soft in the middle. I saw him on his azz constantly.

I am really glad some of you don't make decisions for the Dolphins, I saw a lot of positives from the kid, I think this is the first game action and he will adapt and develop ways to get by these lineman out of neccecity, he really didn't need to develop these methods at the college level due to the inferior competition.

My god, it was the hall of fame game....relax.

He was ok, i was disappointed they didn't get more pressure on the Bears QB's though, but he did have that one nice tackle where one of the Bears QB's ran back like 30 yards and had no where to go so ran all the way up but got a loss of yards. BTW what happened on that play? because ABC cut away to Steve Young and all of a sudden the Bears were back at the Miami 10 yard line?

yes i was gonna say the same thing, wtf happened there?

but i noticed he was just bull rushing every time he engaged, he needs new moves

Expectations were set too high for him.

Slow, but he never gave up.

He'll be fine (with time), but he'll never put any fear into Michael Vick. (If that means anything)

:) True. JT can help him become much better.

I agree with you. This was a first in so many ways for this organization and we can't expect to be perfect in the first instance, and it was only one game.

But I think we've been without football for a long time so the process for evaluation is fairly skewed in my opinion.
