What'd you think of Roth???

he looked slow, and had trouble getting away off the blocks. he did make a good pursuit of the qb when he was flushed, but needs to improve his first move off the snap. If he doesnt O lineman will eat him up quick.

Slow of the snap, doesn't disengage from O-linemen blocks, and still thinks he can bull-rush. I really believe he wasn't prepared for NFL linemen, still thinks they are colleges players.

If he was joe blow undrafted d-lineman I honestly believe ppl would be on this board saying get that guy out of there. He was overmatched even on the tackle he had on the QB he got put on his ***, then got up and gave chase. Which is actually more than I can say for Wright. I had high hopes for this guy, I hope the light comes on.

not to bad for his first rookie "game". he consistantly faught to get to the QB. (they even showed the replay.) but he will improve.

I thought he was explosive off the ball. He was the first one off every time.
But, he didn't know what to do after that. Once the T got his mitts on Roth, the play was over.

It's just his first game and PRESEASON! But I will say this he aint NO JT!

At this point, the dude is just beginning to learn how to play at this level. What he doesn't have to learn is how to keep going no matter what - that's how he made that play on Hutchinson! His motor is unbelievable. That alone will give him some success. I don't think he'll ever be Kevin Greene or anything like that, but I expect him to be a solid player - maybe of the Trace Armstrong mold someday. He does need time, though, and last night's reality check will help him learn a lot!

He has a way to go before making an impact at this level (like I've said) ... he needs to learn some more moves (like i've been saying) ... and he needs to work on his coverage and run support if he's gonna bbe a hybrid DE/LB....

on the bright side, you guys will have time to work on your "Maximus" chant so its perfect for next year.

Sounds like he plays a lot like Marco Coleman did his first year.. But Marco wasnt quite as quick off the Line.

He looked a little slow out of the blocks. I think a player like him is much better in a real game than in practice or a practice game. I know he is intense all the time, but only in the games is it so strong it actually elevates his game. I have faith in him.
do you really beleive that....common roth might not be that good.

"he's slow"..."he sucks"...guys, something to ponder...it was the first time many of these people played in an NFL game. That's gonna hit the nerves a bit. So we can't judge on this particular instance. Watching the HOF game made me realize something...Steve Young was terrible...terrible...terrible...for years before he went to SF. He did nothing during his tenure at TB and then all of a sudden he's the best QB to ever complete a season in terms of ratings and he threw for 6 TDs in the SB...just goes to show you that different flowers take different situations to bloom...we gotta be patient. That goes for just about our whole team right now. We are all in the womb at this point. Just waiting for our water to break...ha ha...that was so lame, but my good friend is pregnant and so I've got it on the mind. See ya peeps.

Personally I wasn't overly impressed, but it's very early. No need to tote him as being Jason Taylor 2 or Dimitrius Underwood. He'll prove his worth

I didn't watch him at Iowa so this was my first time watching him in a game. I thought he had a good motor. He had very limited technique (pretty much one move). He showed adequate (but certainly not elite) speed and power. I don't expect him to be a starter this year, barring injury.

Does Roth suffer from depression...?... I read that on another board.
