What's so great about Philbin?

Just answering peoples questions and comments to me. Personally I like Tannehill. I just won't hang my hat on him.

Most people get excited about numbers. I want a QB to deliver wins. Take us to the next level. In doing so the numbers will come and everyone will be happy.

But to happy about numbers we may as well have Jay Culter who just ripped the Bears a new one on his big contract. Whats the argument everyone uses? "What has he won?"

So I'm not saying get rid of Tannehill. I'm saying lets see more.

When I see Luck, RGIII, Kaepernick, Wilson and Dalton all lead their teams to the post season, I believe we should all hold Tannehill to that standard as well.

Next year it's the playoffs or bust. No excuses. By the end of next year we'll know what we've got in him, and in Philbin.

I agree that Tannehill has to improve. I just don't think he is late in his development. RGIII didn't lead his team to the post season this year. The other 3 have better supporting casts. That is simply undeniable.

I will reserve final judgement on Tannehill until he plays with an average supporting cast, not an OL that leads the league in sacks and an anemic running game.

Every pre game analysis of Tom Brady in the last decade has focused on the same thing. You have to hit him and get sacks to beat him. Every one. And it has proven to be true. That is why the Giants beat them in the SBs.

Tannehill spent the season getting hit and sacked. Why the hell would Dolphins fans consider it an "excuse" to say that the crappy pass blocking was a hinderance. It just doesn't make any sense.

Philbin brought promise of a solid guy who understood the modern NFL, the need to pass the ball successfully along with stopping the pass. Unfortunately, he is ignorant of the necessity of rushing attempts when your quarterback is not elite. I warned about that when we hired him.

I hoped we finally had a confident leader who could speak naturally with the fans. That was a highlight of my early years following this franchise, charismatic guys like Bobby Beathard. Philbin is more capable behind a mike than Ross or Ireland but somehow he's declined in that matter since taking the job, to the point he cowered behind Dawn Aponte's words. Pathetic. That in itself makes me believe he's not the answer. It's like our stadium, more regulating than it appears at first glance.

His time out and clock management is superb. I don't care about one questionable example, like the Steelers first half. That was iffy. I know probability and wasn't sure about the correct choice in that situation. Philbin invariably nails it, stealing an extra possession. I'm sure Auburn would have benefited from Phibin's guidance on Monday night, instead of saving two time outs that proved to be worthless once you fall behind with 13 seconds remaining.

The adjusters like 10-6 with a different offensive line and/or coordinator. That's not a good way to think. I'll leave it at that. It's an increasingly common perspective but no sense of proper weighting. Once the internet exploded two aspects stood out to me as astonishing, the public fixation and belief in conspiracies, and flawed reliance on adjusting, with 20% the new 2%.

If he fails this will be his downfall more than anything. Its funny because I've heard McCarthy was quoted as saying almost exactly what you preach--its not the rushing yards that matters, its the attempts. It seems to me Philbin doesn't buy into that theory, I believe he would pass all day long if the defense asks for it. Anyway, whether he succeeds or fails it'll ultimately come down to number 17 but either way I think we're in for a fun ride next season. I predict with another weapon and another year under his belt Tannehill will put up some huge numbers in the passing game, whether or not that translates into wins is another matter however.

Lets see, Philbin has openly complained about play calling during the game, he wanted the OL addressed but the GM refused, and he fired his OC, and many times the rushing game was taken away because we were behind in score. I don't think this guy is as ignorant as you think he is.

Sure we can get all caught up in the numbers, which is what everyone hangs their hat on.

The only stat I care about are wins.

The playoffs is the only barometer for me to a successful season.

Tannehill **** the bed in the final 2 games. So yeah, regression.

i think he was more hurt than we realized the last two games with the knee issue. May have affected his planting. Overall i saw enough sparks throughout the year to continue the investment. He figures out the pocket presence "thing" and when to use his legs to extend plays, then watch out!

He deserves a chance. That's the most repeated line outside of "homer" and "debbie downer" on this site. Everyone deserves a chance with dolphans. We are a forgiving fanbase I guess.

Our head coach who was an OC for an offensive team in Green Bay "complained" about play calling? I'm thinking that as head coach he should've did a little more than complain.

He is the man with the plan, the only man with the plan, and a good plan too. Now we need a GM, good talent scouts, who can get us some much needed impact players in 1-2 rounds, hopefully 3-4 rounds as well. We have not drafted impact players in forever. We need that.

Aponte for GM? Are you f*cking kidding me?

He did more than complain. He fired Sherman and is in the process of replacing him now.

look up pathetic in the dictionary......Philbin is used as an example

I'm glad you came out of your hole to enlighten us. Now go back and don't come back out til ground hog day. Cool?:3w:

He's nothing sPecial but he's not horrible either

That's the Dolphins organization in a nutshell, and is why we are always 6-10, 7-9, or 8-8. It's called mediocrity.
