Wow, put that to music and you have a #1 country song.

I remember clearly but it wasn't an interesting story.

I was simply sitting at home watching the game with a couple buddies. That's it.
You know, he didn't seem at 1st to be really hurt bad, hurt yes but I just figured at 1st he'd be out the rest of that series and that was all. Well, that wasn't all. :(

Watching the game at home. I kept hoping maybe he just twisted an ankle. But I knew it was something worse than that by the way he was motioning for the trainers.

I never saw it. What happened? It was after he threw it because he completed it so did someone hit him late or something? Did he just step on it the wrong way?

nope, nobody touched him. that was the strange part...and the reason I thought right at the time he'd be back in the next series. I mean, he was a pretty damn tough QB.

I went to the game and sat in the middle level of the end zone that it happened. Najee Mustafa is the one one intercepted Mitchell's first pass. Some Clevelander's cheered when he went down but later on on the game the word started to circulate about how serious the injury was. That was also the last game Offerdahl played because he was injured in that game as well.

no kidding about Offerdahl? I didn't realize that.

If I am not mistaking it was a torn bicep injury but I am not sure because he had multiple injuries at that time. I borrowed a Browns fans binoculors to see who was down and saw #56.

I was home a senior is HS watching it with my family... I remember OJ simpson was the sideline reporter that said it could be the end of his Season. I was crushed. Toughest sports momwnt for me of my life. tougher than any loss. Dan never got hurt. The sad thing about it was we were really off to a good start and had a chance to go all the way that year. Plus Shula broke the wins record without Dan witch stunk..

In the stands with a buddy of mine hearing some of the crowd cheer Marino's injury. Almost got into a couple of fights cause fans were "barking" in my face when mitchell threw the pick for a TD and then almost got into a couple more in the second half when I walked up and down the aisle yelling "we're beating you with our f-in second string."
:rawk:   Thats exactly what i would have done!!. right back in their faces!!

I have so many great memories of Dan, but I'll never forget the worst moment in his spectacular career.. Driving home from FSU on a Sunday afternoon, a day after watching the Hurricanes get spanked by Charlie Ward and the Seminoles. The Dolphins were playing the Browns and through the static I could hear Rick Weaver calling the game.. Change channels during a commercial for a second then go back to the Dolphins broadcast.. All I hear is Weaver saying that it looks really bad for Marino, that he just fell and that the early indication was that the injury could be catastrophic and season ending. At the moment the anger and shock that went through my body almost had me crying. I could not imagine watching a Dolphins game without Marino, my role model growing up, the greatest QB in the history of mankind. To make matters worse, Mitchell comes in the game and immediately throws an INT that was returned for a TD. The rest of the drive was pure hell, as was the end of that season when we lost in week 16 with the platyoffs on the line :(

In a sports bar with my cousin eating hot wings.... as soon as I saw him go down I felt sick to my stomach. I left without watching the rest of the game because I didn't want to hear the impending bad news.

question: Wasn't that also the game that Kosar set the completion percentage record going like 25 of 27?

I was 16 years old. It was my first Fins game. I remember being crushed.

I too was crushed, I was in Disney World at the hotel watching the game. Ruined my whole trip.

Watching the game at home. I just sat there in silence, with a blank stare on my face for hours after it happened...
