Planning on going to my first game this year.
How nice is the stadium. How close are hotels and shopping areas?

Stadium is great. Lots going on there on game day. 8/10
Hotels in vicinity of the stadium....2/10
Shopping near the stadium.....1/10

You'll want to stay closer to the interstate. That's where everything is nice. The stadium is not in the greatest area.

Needs a open/closed roof. Been hearing home games before October puts home fans off going to games because of the heat conditions. Its ok having the home advantage but team hasn't done jack in the bigger picture.

I haven't heard that was a complaint before with fans but if it is I'm sure once the team starts winning, it won't be that much of an issue.

Lower seats and visitor side does have issues but upper level is in shade.

The area is not in the best neighborhood but luckily there is a large police presence and near a main avenue. Not many hotels nearby tho

If you're 5'0" and have short arms, it's great. The seats are tiny, and I'm not a big person. If you're in Florida in September/October it's slightly warm.

This. I’m not from Miami but I don’t remember seeing any empty seats when I watch highlights of the Orange Bowl years.

Been to many games. Sit on home side, and upper level. Shade whole time, and you can see the game better anyhow.

Stay in Brickell, Grove, Gables, Beach, etc. Only go where stadium is for the game itself.

Don't stay near the stadium or Miami. Go to Hollywood Beach area or Ft Lauderdale. Short trip to the stadium. The stadium is in Miami Gardens which is no where near Miami Beach and in a not so great neighborhood. Definitely book your tickets on the home team side as it is mostly in the shade under the new roof and the visitors side is designed to keep the opposing team in the brutal So Florida sun and heat. The stadium upgrades in the last 5 years are outstanding from the roof, to the food, etc. Ross really put his money where his mouth was, laid out over 400 million of his own money after the Marlins screwed dade county. If you choose to stay in Hollywood or Ft Lauderdale, you will have ample shopping.

I love the stadium. Considering it was built in the 80’s, it’s a damn nice and unique stadium to visit. The recent upgrades really are pretty special. If you can, try and take a tour of the stadium. Pretty cool to see some stuff from the inside and you even get to walk along the end zone to take pics.

As for comparing it to other stadiums, I haven’t visited enough NFL Stadiums to make a good judgement but it’s my favorite. I’ve been to Mile High, Lambeu Field, Tennessee, the original Orange Bowl, Honolulu (Pro Bowl), and I saw Candle Stick from the outside before it was torn down, and a handful of notable baseball parks (Dodgers, SF, Denver, Mia). The San Fran Giants park is gorgeous but Hard Rock is my favorite, no doubt.

It’s an awesome stadium now that Ross moved the concrete/seats inside closer to the field and put a semi roof on it..

It’s an elite stadium imo..

All the new stadiums and their owners have no clue how to create a competitive advantage Thru intelligent design
