Where would you rank Hard Rock Stadium to other Stadiums?

Do you think they would ever put a retractable roof on the stadium? Not only to protect people from the heat but also the rain. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to do considering most of the stadium is already covered with a canopy. They would basically be filling in the hole with a roof.

How hard would it be for them to put a retractable roof on the stadium if they ever did choose to go that route? Not only to protect people from the heat but also the rain. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to do considering most of the stadium is already covered with a canopy.
It would probably cost somewhere between $100-$150 million.

We can also go back another decade if you want? Dolphins are 13-19 at home in September since 2001.

If you go back 25 years, they just BARELY squeak out a winning record (21-19) at home in September.

Overall point? Heat does not seem to give any advantage at all.

PS, just looked up by temperature (instead of by month), and the Dolphins are 27-29 in games over 85 degrees, in the last quarter century.

Yep, definitely global cooling, then.

But were they a good team because they were a good team, or because of the heat? Hmmm.
In football it's never one thing. That's the beauty of the sport. It's always about how many things wourk together.

Which would be chump change for Ross considering he paid over $500 million for the upgrades to the stadium.

I doubt most would consider that chump change, including Ross.
Well considering he paid over $500 million out of his own pocket for the original upgrades to the stadium $150 million doesn't seem that bad in comparison.

Been to many games. Sit on home side, and upper level. Shade whole time, and you can see the game better anyhow.

Stay in Brickell, Grove, Gables, Beach, etc. Only go where stadium is for the game itself.
How steep is the upper level? We are planning a trip this season. My wife's experience with upper levels is limited to At&T stadium here in Dallas. That upper level is so steep that it gives her vertigo and she swore never to go back. It's almost like you are looking straight down.

Last time we went to Hard Rock we sat in the lower level. I wouldn't mind sitting in the upper level, but I would have to convince her that it's different than AT&T Stadium.

They did when we were a good team. That's the point.

Since temperatures have been tracked in the history of the NFL, the Dolphins have a losing record in games above 85 degrees.

So if it happened at some point, I guess my question is, when?

Stadium is great. Lots going on there on game day. 8/10
Hotels in vicinity of the stadium....2/10
Shopping near the stadium.....1/10

You'll want to stay closer to the interstate. That's where everything is nice. The stadium is not in the greatest area.
agree on all points.. my family comes down for a game just about every year and we usually stay in south beach or ft lauderdale.. at least it's an easy drive to get to the stadium but not much around the stadium as far as shopping or restaurants.

Planning on going to my first game this year.
How nice is the stadium. How close are hotels and shopping areas?
Renovated Stadium is one of the NFL's best without question. However, it's in a ridiculous area that no one can make any sense of. The original idea was that there would be a bunch of hotels built out there. Huizenga had a whole plan after he bought it with I believe even a theme park out there on the surrounding parcels but it didn't come to pass. Surrounding area is a crap hole dining wise. Sure, some good holes in the wall but still..

Don't stay near the stadium or Miami. Go to Hollywood Beach area or Ft Lauderdale. Short trip to the stadium. The stadium is in Miami Gardens which is no where near Miami Beach and in a not so great neighborhood. Definitely book your tickets on the home team side as it is mostly in the shade under the new roof and the visitors side is designed to keep the opposing team in the brutal So Florida sun and heat. The stadium upgrades in the last 5 years are outstanding from the roof, to the food, etc. Ross really put his money where his mouth was, laid out over 400 million of his own money after the Marlins screwed dade county. If you choose to stay in Hollywood or Ft Lauderdale, you will have ample shopping.
In fairness, Ross "laid out over 400 million of his own money" only after he thoroughly alienated key legislative leaders in trying to get the state to pay for it.
