Who are you willing to get rid of for...

...Ricky Williams? I continue to be surprised at the number of fans on this site that can't wait for Ricky to come back to this team. Have any of you really thought this through? Some thoughts to ponder about this move:

1. One of our RB prospects will have to be cut to make room for him. This will be a player with great potential that we will lose to make room for a player that is on the downside of his career.

2. Many of you seem to think Ricky will come back as strong as he used to be...nothing could be further from the truth. He has already had his best season, he will not reach that level again. Expect Ricky (with a full season) to put up average YPC and total yards, and maybe even less.

3. Salary. Ricky will not come for the league minimum. He is going to make good money, so is Ronnie Brown. That is a lot of money for the RB position that could be better spent on some OL or secondary help. Plus, you will be paying him for a maximum of 12 games after his suspension. All I heard about during draft time was value, and how we should discard some of our best players (that aren't head cases and have never quit) so that we could get the best value. How is Ricky Williams a value at this point?

4. Team chemistry. I see many of you think that the team has forgiven him. Are you sure? Do you really believe Zach and JT are going to really say what they feel about the situation to the press? Saban is evaluating everyone, what he wants will not be openly second guessed or criticized by the players.

5. Many of you have said you will welcome him back if his "head is in the game" and he "really wants to win". What makes you think this is any more than a way out of an $8.6 million settlement?

6. Ricky can't be trusted. This is perhaps the biggest issue. Suppose Ronnie goes down, and Ricky starts carrying the load again. Maybe he gets too many carries in the game...will he be there the next week? Suppose he hits a club, and someone fires up a joint and offers him a toke...is he going to refuse? Suppose the Fins stun the NFL and make it to the playoffs...will Ricky dress for the game, or will he put on a dress and go clubbing?

I cannot conceive of any way that Ricky coming back is a good thing. This decision will come back to bite Saban in the end.

Geez...another RW is evil thread...hey, like it or not, he's coming back...make the best of it...is he reliable (can he be trusted), no way..but Saban is the guy to have to deal with that...We all have talked about all the IFs involved in RW returning...But IF he can overcome them, IF he can return to his old form, IF he conforms to the league drug rules, IF...etc, etc, etc, his talent would make the team better. It's as simple as that....

As far as who I would give up...I'd give up Minor, Henry, and Morris if I had to, to keep KJ, Gordon, RW, and Brown...I think Morris' season last year was admirable, considering the pressure put on him and the OL's play, but he's really nothing better than a backup...if I had my druthers, I'd keep KJ and Gordon as backups....

Henry's been gone.

Nobody can say for sure.........yet anyone who's seen my related posts on here would tell you I believe it to be the more likely that he disrupts team chemistry, based on his prior behavior and decision last year. To me, it just has that fantasy feel to it. Like the "can you imagine if they played together" type of scenario you hear discussed in sports all the time. If Ricky didn't have a massive child support settlement and 8.6 million in debt hanging over his head, I personally might consider the comeback a little more serious, give it a little more empathy than I have been. However, that's just not the case. I don't like how he's only said he's in it for 2 seasons......and I don't like the fact that he's making indirect salary demands thru his agent.

1. One of our RB prospects will have to be cut to make room for him. This will be a player with great potential that we will lose to make room for a player that is on the downside of his career. (well if you notice last year we have alot of crappy running backs to choose from - no big deal)

2. Many of you seem to think Ricky will come back as strong as he used to be...nothing could be further from the truth. He has already had his best season, he will not reach that level again. Expect Ricky (with a full season) to put up average YPC and total yards, and maybe even less. (ricky is a talented athlete with no serious injuries. This is no big deal for a real athlete)

3. (ricky owes us 8.6 million. ricky will do what we tell him)

4. Team chemistry. I see many of you think that the team has forgiven him. Are you sure? Do you really believe Zach and JT are going to really say what they feel about the situation to the press? Saban is evaluating everyone, what he wants will not be openly second guessed or criticized by the players. (alot of the players have already stated to live and let live. i suggest you do the same)

5. Many of you have said you will welcome him back if his "head is in the game" and he "really wants to win". What makes you think this is any more than a way out of an $8.6 million settlement? (ricky always gave 100% when he was on the field. Its the off field stuff we worry about)

(ricky has a mental/chemical disorder that he has and will be treated for. Yoga included)

I cannot conceive of any way that Ricky coming back is a good thing. This decision will come back to bite Saban in the end. (saban is god and you will trust in him)

have a nice day

Yea, 3, 4 and 6 worry me too. I think the rest might help offset the rustiness, but why spend more money when we already got Brown at RB? I still think they plan on showcasing him, then getting some kind of a trade (for a pick). If they sign him cheap enough, that's not too hard to do. How much will he be paid?

a good friend of mine has a good point i would like to share with everyone. even if brown only gets ten yard this year it would be better that having ricky walk out and leave the team. at least he will give it his all. i wouldn't want to give the ball to some one who dosn't care about the team enough to atleast give a clue about hey i don't want to play this game

weeellll, mike tyson came back for the money, and what happened..listen to his quotes. he wasnt in it, he said he had no business out there fighting..i think this thread has some validity, but even with avg numbers, and such, he will be good trade bait, maybe even a 3rd, or (gasp...gasp again, a 2nd)..who knows...but above all, I do not like the fact that he is coming back for the (to quote randy moss) str8 cash homie....

Did you not read the post before yours?!?

He always gave it his all. If he comes back he will only come back and work at 110% just like always.

Explain why?

I dont know if this is sarcasm or not because you have to be pretty incompetent if you think that any back or any kind can suceed with the 2nd to worst O-line in the league.

right now Minor weighs more then Ricky does and some of you forget that

Have you been standing by Ricky when he was stepped on the scale lately? Cause I remember about six weeks ago that he weighed 195 lbs cause of an infection. A healthy dose of anti-biotics, healthy eating and some wieght training could do the trick. Oh and also there is this thing called muscle memory, it helps you regain and retain the muscle mass you have lost.
