I agree that Quinn would be an exciting hire, and I I like his tendencies much more than I did Bradley's when he was the DC in Seattle. It should, though, be noted that adding Avril, Bennett, and replacing Brown with Maxwell (after Brown's issues) amounted to a significant upgrade in talent. It should also be noted that Pete Carroll, before anyone else, defines the success of that Seattle team. For anyone who has been paying attention to Seattle, Carroll built it with such vision and attention to detail. Difficult as it is to find a guy with the vision of Carroll, you also have to take into account John Schneider's part.

I'd love the Quinn hire. Like everything I've ever heard about him, and I like what I've seen from him. I also love that he's worked under Saban and is working under Carroll. And you're right when you say that D's as good as it gets. But as outstanding as Quinn looks on paper, you still have to worry about GM (unless you think Hickey would suffice), hiring an OC that compliments his system without being stifled (one of Seattle's greatest attributes) - and a QB to go with that OC, and you have to worry about Quinn's transition from DC to HC. It's a BIG step and a very different job. Again, with all that said, I'd love the hire. He brings a ton to the table, and he's got as good a chance of any candidate - outside of Harbaugh, who has proven to be a great HC.

I think if he's given the right GM and QB he will be fine. He's been around a lot of places. I have no doubts he could put together an A+ coaching staff. Who the is GM and the QB they decide to draft will be the biggest factor of him being a success or not. Cus he can't really coach football.

You never really know what you're going to get with a coach unless you find a way to get a proven winner. Bruce Arians turned out to be a phenomenal hire for Arizona, and to be honest, how many people were going around saying "Yeah, let's go get Bruce Arians?" I'm sure some people were, but it wasn't front and center.

Well, the last time this franchise had a great coach, you know how we got him? We stole him from Baltimore. Go steal the guy from San Francisco.

I'm wishy washy, I'm flippity floppy call me what you wish but if I really cared what people thought about me I wouldn't be at where I am today... Happy.

I want Philbin as our coach in 2015. I want to see him turn things around and fix our team. Tired of the rebuilding. Tired of hires and fires. And downright sick of the modern day NFL nonsense of giving head coaches less than 5 years to put their stamp on things. If Ross had the conviction of hiring Philbin than he should live with it and stick to it. If things take an enormously wrong downturn then we can address this at the end of the season. Otherwise, get it done Joe.

I'll stick with this team til I die. My hope is that it just doesn't kill me before my time. Go Fins!

Well in defense of Bruce Arians.
He had almost everything you could ask for in a resume.
History as HC- Check. 5 years in Temple
Saturation with winning organizations and winners - check. Peyton Mannings Qb coach, Bill Cowher/Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh

Plus he had a marvelously successful trial year as the defacto head coach of Indy with Andrew Luck.

Bruce Arians to me was about as safe a bet as a rising coordinator to be head coach as you can get.

Yeah, but from what I've seen, he's actually really dang good. Not 'safe,' but like a "Damn, we shoulda hired that guy" type of hire.

And I didn't think he would be. Who did? Go find the guy who was pimping Bruce Arians for a head coaching job three or four years ago and pick his brain.

I voted Lazor.

Not because his offense is rolling yet, but because he has a great grasp of the game and is a good leader of men.

He might make a better HC than an OC and certainly wouldn't do worse than Philbin.

He was also Peyton Manning's QB coach when he first entered the league

Bruce Arians was one of the most sought after assistants on the market that yr, after the job he did filling in for Pagano who had to leave for cancer treatment...He is one of the reasons I want Todd Bowles back, he has done an excellent job with Arizona Defense and working with Arians for 2 yrs will only help him build off of the job he did here when he step in for Tony and went 2-1....

I realize he had a lot to work with with both Luck and Manning, but yup. Impressive. And look at how he's salvaged Carson Palmer's career. Oh, and made Drew Stanton good... what the heck?

I think this team is a good spot for any good coach next yr, I believe all the good prospects will take a look at us unless Ross scares them away which is possible.....We have a young QB that is a question mark which is ok because you can bring in competition and not hurt anyone feeling because he hasn't solidified the job yet...The OL is shaping up to be dominant over the next 3 yrs, upgrade at Guard and depth and we are above average and if Pouncey can stay out of jail his return will only help...Defense front 4 is good and deep, looks like we have some young LB that can be play makers with time, bring in some veteran help there and use first pick on a defensive stud ( DB or LB) and the D will be solid.....not a lot of work needed for the next coach....

There is talent on this team its just not playing well at the moment and if Joe can't get them to play better someone else will

I think this is pretty fair and I agree that this job should be appealing to a quality head coaching candidate if Steve Ross does it right this time by cleaning house and staying out of the way.

I think I would keep Hickey and let him make the decisions on front office and coaching hires, could be risky but I think he did enough good things this off season to earn his spot, If I'm Ross I might even extend his contract to 5 yrs instead of that crazy 2 yr deal he gave him....

I blame it on the weed. I picked up a half of indica; I prefer sativa. :d-day:

Remember when the Bucs traded Oakland for Gruden?

They had a great defense but Dungy couldn't do anything with the offense.

Gruden would be my #1 choice.

The players would forget about philbin after the first 10 seconds of the very first practice.
