Who do you want as Head Coach in 2015 ?

Wannstedt had more success than anyone since Shula. His problem was he couldn't draft and banked his future on Jay Fiedler.

Actually that is 2 problems. There is a reason I refer to him a Vanilla Dave. His playbook consisted of 2 dive plays to Ricky W then Feidler throwing a 4 yd out when 7 or more were needed.

Well, one things for sure, we shouldn't (but probably will) hear that there's "nobody available." I'd be happy with any of the following:

Dan Quinn
Jim Harbaugh
John Harbaugh (small chance, but still a chance with all of the nonsense this season)
Gus Malzahn
Kevin Sumlin

And I'm sure there are more that I'm not thinking of right now. So, I'm guessing we get none of the above.

Jim is a good football coach, regardless of everything else that surrounds him. I also think that even though he's a long-shot, there is at least a slim hope that we can pull it off and bring him here. We'd have to give up a lot, but he's a proven coach.

My 'other' choice would be to roll the dice on a prodigy with limited NFL experience and hope he pans out. I'm thinking specifically of Gus Malzahn. I know that some people will point to Saban as a reason to avoid going to the college ranks, but the truth is that Saban was a good coach who simply screwed up some personnel decisions, especially the QB. I don't think that necessarily means we should never hire a college coach again. I point to the success of Chip Kelly -- someone I thought was going to crash and burn in the NFL -- as an example of how innovative and talented college coaches can bring something new to the NFL.

Well, Philbin is proven...to be a ****ty head coach, so he certainly has them all beat on that so far.

Throwing the football downfield instead of rinky dink passes 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage, check. Can actually draw up a screen play that works, check.

And it's all because of his coaching, his offensive design, his gameplanning, and his play-calling. And we have a QB on the roster who would be perfect, absolutely perfect for his offense. It's the reason I had a temper tantrum in the off-season about hiring him.

You can make an argument that Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati is one of the worst head coaches in the NFL but the Bengals have been good the past couple of seasons because they have consistency in what they want to run they don't keep changing game plans and systems they have a balance.
