Who is to blame more, Stephen Ross, Jeff Ireland or Joe Philbin?

How can people soley blame Ireland, when knowing we would have a playoff run if he had hired the HC he wanted??? If Ireland had hit playoffs this year he would still be a GM

I'd put about 80% of the blame on Ireland, and about 10% on Ross, and 10% on Philbin.

The Bottom Line is Ireland made the personnel decisions. He brought in Incognito, Pouncey and Martin. He is the guy who brought in the free agents, and picked guys in the draft. Ross may not know much about football, maybe he is a little senile, or focused mainly on his real estate empire and business, but he hired Ireland, and he obviously made a big error in hiring him to be the GM. Philbin can only work with the players others chose, but Philbin should have known what was happening with Bullygate and done something about it.

End of the day it can't be anyone other than Ross. He is the one who hired everyone so that falls on him. I personally think Philbin is in over his head more than Ireland was, they both deserved to be canned and Philbin has not shown nearly enough to take priority over a new GM like he has, that also falls on Ross. Ireland simply didn't have good enough people skills to stick around, I think both these guys are failures on Ross' part and it's unfortunate we didn't move on from the whole circus when we had the chance. Since we're still stuck with Philbin, we have to make the most of what we've got. Having Philbin and Hickey on the same page will be big, IF they prove they can evaluate talent. I think Hickey has proven to be pretty average at it (jury's still out) but one of the x-factors is if Philbin can prove to get the right guys that fit his system. Frankly I don't get the support he gets here, I don't see a lot of redeeming qualities and nothing he does sticks out. He's respected and organized. I'm sorry, that doesn't do it for me, you don't win ships with those being your coaches 2 qualities. So we're gonna have to hope, Philbin is a solid talent evaluator who's been in hiding. Lazor is the other x-factor, because a good offense with good play calling makes all the difference in the world. With a good OC last year this is a 9-10 win team. Here's hoping it's 1 step forward, no steps back for a change.

Let me make my statement again. It's mostly Ireland's fault. Philbin had a chance to succeed based on the players Ireland acquired. Ross took too long in giving Ireland the chance to build a winning team. Philbin and Miami had a chance to make the playoffs and failed.

I see it like this:

Whose fault is it.....

Ireland: 75%
Ross: 15%
Philbin: 10%

Clearly these aren't scientific numbers but they show my view.

I have my concerns with Philbin as the HC, but certainly not over this. Its been reported that he had serious reservations over JM ability to start at LT and he was in favor of trading for Albert. Its also been reported that he wanted to get rid of Incognito last yr. Ireland had final say. Therefore, the fault lies with Ireland.
Philbin doesn't have the power of a Bill Bellichick.

Perfectly stated!

I dont think people realise how loaded this D would be. It would be a top 5 D, IMO avg only about 18pts/game.

On offense this year we avg. 19.8 pts/game. With Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall, Anthony Fasano and Mike McCoy calling the shots are you saying that we dont get 10 wins?

If you do think he gets 10 wins and we hit playoffs, more thand likely beat the Bengals then lose to Broncos, would you then fire Jeff Ireland?

If a lack of roster turnover is the key to winning then we should have just kept Sparano and the gang.

Ross but since you cannot fire an owner it was Ireland who did the most damage.

What a crazy statement. Sparano was a piss poor HC. Simple.

It's not just Mike McCoy. We had the opportunity to hire Andy Reid. Just imagine that roster with Andy Reid and his DC from KC.

If you then believe we would have had 10-11 wins, then it must be more Ross & Philbin to blame

All I know is that this team was 8-6, fresh off of a HUGE win vs the Patriots. Needing one of the last two games to get in, they turned in awful performances…that is on the coaching staff.

I believe Philbin would have had 11-13 wins with Phillip Rivers as his QB so I'm not sure who's to blame.

Ross, he is a meddling owner who works behind the scene.....the worst kind of owner, he makes most of the major decisions but doesn't put his name on it...I would take a Jerry Jones over Ross any day, at least you know who to blame on the Cowboys and you know your owner is 100% committed to the franchise

well at least Jerry has brought Cowboy fans three superbowl titles and a great stadium

Easy, ross is. He's the reason we had dumb sh!ts in charge in the first place. And he's too fuking stupid to see who the dumb sh!ts are and keeps them around. Gawd I fuking hate ross. He's such a dumb a$s piece of **** its pathetic. I really don't see how this dude got to where he is today.
