Who will we cut?

Don't you think they will atleast give Berlin a chance to make the team before they cut him

berlin isnt making anything that hurts us. david bowens if anybody is the only person i see getting cut. tim-bo i think would retire before saban cuts him.

I'm thinking that we're going to release Travis Minor, I'm hoping Taylor Whitley, and David Bowens is also a possibility. If we could get anything for David Bowens, I would definitely want a 5th or 6th round pick for him. I don't think many people will be getting cut yet. TimBo is a possiblity but only because of injury. I doubt Larry Chester will be released, I doubt Brock Berlin will be released yet, and no way do I think Lamar Gordon will be released. I don't expect much tomorrow, the only big name that seems like but would still be a little bit of a surprise would be David Bowens and Tim Bowens. Basically if you're name is Bowens, you're future is uncertain.

Wow cutting Gordon won't be enough....We should also get rid of Zach Thomas, Chris Chambers and trade Booker back to Chicago for a 7th rounder.. :shakeno:

Come on dude, why would you cut Gordon before even seeing what he can do in training camp....Besides Ronnie Brown, Gordon can also catch the ball in the back field and he has great hands. His only problem is he might be injury prone..

Traylor is a DT. Bowens is a DE.
I should have been more clear. With Roth, carter, taylor, and holliday, yes i know carter has been playing tackle, that leaves Traylor and chester along with carter at tackle. why keep an overpaid backup

We won't be cutting anyone tomorrow because he have plenty of cap room. Everybody(media included) has said that we won't be releasing anyone tomorrow.

yeah that's what I heard also...My only concern is how may players do we currently have on our roster and how many are we allowed to have???

David Bowens is unlikely to be cut. The palm beach post reports that his agent is stating they are negotiating a contract extention. Wow! Who knew!??

We can't get anything for David Bowens. Again, the trade criteria is very simple: if he's a player we don't care about and won't start for us, no one is going to donate a draft pick for him, no matter how low. It's only 7 rounds, not the old days when a 12th or a 17th was basically given away just so the coach could go home a bit early on draft day #2.

I think David Bowens will be cut, before the season but most likely not tomorrow or soon. He played worse last year than the posters in this thread seem to believe. The old burst is gone after his knee injury and he's subpar vs. the run.

As always, my dream cuts are Larry Chester and Derrius Thompson. I just can't stand either one of them, although I realize that's contrary to consensus opinion around here. DTs who do nothing but stand up and tread dirt and WRs with pathetic hands/instincts are fine if we aspire to 4-12 every year. Since I wagered over 5 wins I'm eager for a bit of an upgrade.

Right now, I believe we can have as many as we want. The deadlines don't start until August.

Don't we have traylor now, what is the purpose of keeping an overpayed player at the same position.

Huh, 3 is better than 2, especially if one gets hurt..

I don't think we let D. Thompson go, with D. Boston health history.
The rest I can agree with. Wow I just thought about this, we have no idea of what's going on with our team for the first time in years..keeps us really busy trying to figure out what our team is going to look like.

I agree that Travis Minor will be released and that Jamar Martin will almost definitely be released because we have Heath Evans and Sammy Morris to paly FB. I'm not sure if any of these cuts will happen anyimte soon, but I don't think either of them will make the final 53-man lineup. As for Jeff Zgonina, I'm really uncertain because I was really impressed with his performance filling in for Larry Chester and TimBo last year. THe only problem is he's undersized, he's 35, and we may need the money and roster spot more than we need him. I'm still uncertain about Zgonina. My guess is that he will end up getting released.

But I'm curious... why do you think we should and/or are going to release Derrius Thompson? I'm hoping we keep him beause I think he's going to be a good #4 for us. His first year with us he was starting and he was a tremendous disappointment and last year he improved towards the end of the season playing #3. I think he'd be best suited behind Chambers, Booker, and Boston playing #4 for us.
