I'm in my 40s and admittedly this salary cap stuff doesn't enter my analysis as much as it should. I had no idea cutting Derrius Thompson would cost us twice as much as keeping him. Still, for my mental well being I want him gone. I can still picture him running the worst pattern in NFL history when Fiedler threw the critical pick late in the opener vs. the Texans in '03. Fielder took the grief while Thompson was allowed to wander through the same awful routes all year and beyond, not terrorized by fans and media nearly as much as he warranted.
As far as the 4th DE, I think it's Kevin Carter. All the projections in this thread list him at DT. Carter has been quoted that the Dolphins asked his preference and he said DE. He'll play inside primarily on obvious passing downs.
