Im pretty indifferent on the hire based on his resume but just not sure there is much to get excited about ouside of Nick Foles having one great year. His time at Virginia as an OC was definitely nothing earth shattering in any of his three years, qb definitely wasn't any big strength during those seasons. Fairly mediocre offense. He was also qb coach for Washington for two years which got nothing much out of their qb's to brag about. 2008 and 2009 at seatlle was nothing to brag about from a coaching perspective. My greatest pleasure from the signing Is Sherman is gone. You never know when people are hired they may produce but nothing about Lazor really excites me as our offensive coordinator. He does seem a smart guy and Im hoping he surprises and helps Tannehill's development.

I'm excited about the Lazor hiring for a few reasons:
(a) The possibility of getting more creative play calling.
(b) The development of Ryan Tannehill. Maybe exposure to someone with some different offensive theories is a good thing.
(c) The Chip Kelly Offense appears to focus heavily on speeding things up and getting mismatches. It is probably one of the most exciting developments to come along in years. Lazor was an integral part of it for the past year. I presume that he understands it fully. Maybe it can be replicated or parts of it can be replicated.
(d) Our O-line was a mess last year. The departure of Sherman (and maybe Turner to come), permits something different on the O-line. Lazor was exposed to something totally different up in Philadelphia. We tend to think in terms of the players we have, but I hope that he has strong input on this.
(e) Watch the Nick Foles interview at the Pro Bowl. He gives full credit to his rapid development to Lazor and the super preparation he received. It seemed really unusual to hear a player go out of his way to recognize a departing coach. I have a decent b/s meter, but this appeared very genuine from an appreciative smart young guy.

All are possibilities but based on his coordinating for three years at VA , that's nothing like Chip Kelly's offense.

Well the odds are you wont get 2 guys in a row that don't understand that even as a passing team, you still need to be somewhat balanced... Just that IMO is an upgrade...

Because he's not the last guy.
Plus, his name is Lazor...Which is kinda like "Laser" and who doesn't
want a laser?

Well u would think 4 coaches in a row wouldn't lack basic understanding but the last 4 coaches have

I personally would have preferred Kubiak. I don't like him as a head coach but as an OC he is a proven performer and he transformed the Texans into one fo the best offenses in the league under his leadership.
every year during the past 7 the Texans ranked in the upper half of the league in offense

Because as fans, we're going to get excited about anything that inspires hope in the team or its players, until there is absolutely overwhelming evidence that such hope isn't warranted.

Dlockz,

Have you and Hayden Fox ever thought about starting a Band? I swear you two hum the same tone!

I personally think whenever we replace an unpopular guy the masses will overwhelming support almost any hire.
I don't really have an opinion on Lazor because there is really so little outside of Foles success to really evaluate as a reason to be excited.
As OC and coach he never had that kind of impact in the past, I hope its something he builds upon.

Dlockz,

Actually me and Hayden disagree quite often but you seem to somehow just miss the boat on that.
Until we right this ship my tune wont be changing. Im sorry that overall Im dissatisfied with 5 straight non winning seasons

It's also close to "Loser", so no matter how he does we have nicknames for him..

as long as he sweeps right with a horrible offensive line on 3rd and short. i love that play!!! :hclap:
