why are we keeping A.J. Feeley?

You can't cut a guy with that much raw ability. If he can somehow find some pocket awareness and learn to scan the whole feel he is going to be a pretty good QB.

I personally don't have my hopes up for him - but you don't just cut someone with that kind of raw ability.

And add in an o-line that can give him some time.

My only worry about AJ is that I think he gets hurt a lot. A lot of other QBs would have played through that Urlacher hit. But he has shown he has guts, and he does have ability. The key is to get the entire offense working in a way that he can show this ability. I did see some positives in the Bears game... We just need to keep improving, and that's what the preseason is for. I'm excited to see what tonight holds...

Yes in the regular season they would. You get smacked like that in preseason and they get you out of the game fast. If it was the regular season Feeley would have come back on the field, he showed he could play with pain last year.

we still have to see if feeley can become this team qb, he only started half a season. time will tell if he's going to be good.

I'm amazed at how many people are able to clearly judge a QB based on 7 pass attempts, 5 of which that should have been complete, and 1 that was thrown away because it was a play that got blown up. He had 6 legit attempts to complete a pass, he completed 4 of them, all right on the money, and had a 5th that was on the money but dropped. Meanwhile, Frerotte's 2 biggest completions were total luck. He's lucky that both of those passes were not intercepted. When you underthrow a 44-yard pass into double coverage, it should be intercepted more often than it's complete. And when you're trying to throw the ball to the TE, but it slips off your hand, and winds up in the middle of the field, those also get intercepted on a regular basis. Instead, Frerotte got lucky and got a TD out of it. Personally, I think the QB's both did some good things, and we should be glad for that. It's too soon to judge who is going to be the starter. As Dolphins' fans, we should all be rooting for Feeley. Our only real shot to get this team turned around while our defensive talent is not too old is if Feeley steps up. Frerotte is 34 years old, entering his 12th year in the NFL. He's started 64 games, and has always shown that he's never going to be a good starter. To expect him to suddenly be better at age 34 doesn't make sense. And for what it's worth, as bad as Feeley was last year, his career completion percentage is better than Frerotte's (54.8 to 54.6). If Frerotte winds up being our starter, it means another year of being bad to mediocre, drafting a QB next year, and then waiting 3-4 years for the young QB to develop.

Frerotte was warming up to come in for the next series anyway. Feeley couldn't get his shoe back on (yes, Urlacher knocked him out of his shoe). It was either come out the game, or call a timeout. He did the smart thing and came out of the game. He also sprained his ankle on the play, so it made no sense to put him back in. If it had been a regular season game, they would have just re-taped his ankle, and he'd have been back in there.

When I saw A.J. Feeley in the Chicago game I realized why do we keep this guy, ferrotte could do it this year and Rosenfel and Berlin did much better, so why don't we cut Feeley and save money to sign Ronnie Brown and maybe get a primetime cornerback. what do you think?

I've been sayin that since I came to fin heaven but I guess I've never been so blinded by my loyalty as to fall in love with anyoe who puts on the uni, jellous for sure, but not blind, I still know a lemon when I see one and feely is like a rotten lemon the funny thing is I still feel like we got a real shot at a fair 10-6 season with or without the lemmon.

Every year with the Dolphins if it's not one thing it's another. One year we got the year's top rusher but can't throw the ball one bit. One year our defense is stellar but our entire offense is horrible. In the Marino years we could throw the hell out of the ball but we couldn't run or play defense. This year I see our passing game being good but everything else being bad except the front seven defense.

Oh I forgot the year we couldn't find a long snapper for the life of the entire team. I wasn't only p.o'd that we were punting but I was scared it was going to sail over our punter's head or bounce a few times before he got the ball.

All I want to see is a consistent, balanced team for once.

Well I actually don't think he did worse than Sage, or Brock, but I think I read somewhere that his cap hit would be substantial NEXT season, so if he doesn't become a quality starter for Miami THIS YEAR, then you could expect him to be gone next season

That is true. 100% agree, if AJ doesnt show it this year, then cut the losses, draft or trade for a young qb like Rivers or Brees or draft Leinart ( tho I am not a huge fan of his, weak arm IMO) or Omar Jacobs.

The worst thing about Feeley is that he isn't able to block for himself to give himself another few seconds to throw the ball. Who could?

Give the guy a break. We have no idea what he can or can't do until our line can keep the defense off of him. Marino in his prime would have trouble behind this swiss cheese. It will get better, but it's not yet where we want it.

The reason the Phins are keeping A.J. is so that this message board can be littered with even more "A.J. Sux!/No he doesn't!" threads. Seriously...it's the only reason...Saban told me so.

The reason why he came out wasnt because he was hurt... but because he couldnt get his shoe back on... In a normal game... they would have pulled him out for a play... ran the ball with a backup QB in while getting his shoe back on... and then had Feeley back in the next play...

He played through alot more pain last season than just that hit... for instance when he dislocated his finger... he came for a play while they popped it back in, and then Feeley went back in and threw a touchdown that next play...
