It’s crazy to me that that some teams can turn things around so quickly, but yet for us after like almost 2 decades we are still in the same place. You could of stopped following the Dolphins in like 2005 and come back today and we’d still be in the same purgatory place.

You see teams like the Rams and Eagles turn it around in like a season or 2. Just sucks that we can’t draft or hire the right coach.

Why can’t we catch a break?????

Because aside from 2007, we always manage to overachieve in our bad years and underachieve in the good ones. Y’know...consistency...avoiding the peaks and valleys as Gase would say.

Because we always try and get a QB “on the cheap”. As opposed to growing balls and piling in for a stud.

And it doesn’t help when much of the fanbase (including many here) say: “No, don’t do that, we need X before a QB. And why ante up? Brady was drafted in the 7th round!”

Dumb logic. And THAT is exactly why we are in this mess

Because Miami hires people that are lucky to even have a job and they know it. These people then make decisions centered around whatever best helps them keep that job for another week, or 6 months, or 2 years.

Nobody ever has the guts to make the decisions that are best long term because they're risky. It's a lot easier to convince the fanbase every year that 7-9 is better than 2-14. The fans agree.

When you stay around 8-8 you keep drafting middle of the pack so everything stays the same. We're never good enough but we're never bad enough to draft high. Our FO keeps messing up the picks too. Too much reaching out for need and yes, we've lack an elite QB since Marino left the game. Unless you clean house at the top we can expect the same results we've been getting.

Ryan Tannehill was selected 8th overall.

What the fan base is saying has no bearing on the operation of the football team. What fans think doesn't matter. Fans are not the reason Ryan Tannehill is the starting QB. Fans are never the reason a coach is fired or retained.

So none of what you cited are the reasons the team is a mess. You're blaming fellow fans for this, and that's just silly. The real reason the team is a mess is because we're chewing through coaches. Every 4 years we fire one and hire another. Not to mention that with personnel whose seats are feeling hot, they pass on potential big time QBs in a hurry to find what's going to save their immediate future. We were probably shuffling medical personnel in between coaches when we passed on Brees, too. That would be the Dolphin way.

1000% this...

There's this insane notion throughout the organization that we are always 1 or 2 players away from being good, not to mention the fact that we have a "win now" mentality for the past 2 decades. You either gut the roster for a total and go through your growing pains, or just keep doing what they have been doing and hope for the best. Plus playing musical chairs with you HC position doesn't help.

I'll say it in one word... mismanagement
That's all you need to know, poor drafts, not producing a legit game changer, and missing out on a franchise QB (Ryan, Rodgers, Brees×2) for the last 25 years. Your reward for playing it safe is remaining in football purgatory.

We did it two years ago but we were not this banged up. The only thing that's going to make it even close to possible is top-notch coaching at every level. I'm not optimistic.

Why can’t we catch a break?????

Rams = Goff
Eagles = Wentz
Dolphins = BORING

that's why.

Football purgatory is the worst place to be. And we’ve been there for nearly all of 25 years.

I’d gladly trade some of those 8-8 and 7-9 seasons for 2-14 ones if that meant others that were 12-4. I think you kinda need ashes to rise from, else you’re just standing still as our history seems to prove.
