Why does FH think we wont be running the ball this year?

I look for us to spread the field to open up the running game, as opposed to "smash mouth" up the gut running plays. I loved the stretch play LJ scored on in that Dallas game. Pass to set up the run. As far as that goes, the swing passes, and screen passes are just an "extension" of the running game. Get the ball to a player "in space". BTW, you don't NEED a hall of fame QB to run this "style" of offense. Hell, Matt Castle proved that the year Brady went down.

Yea but Matt Cassel has proven he is a good qb unlike Henne to this point

Stop acting like you work for the dolphins organization, me and you both dont know **** about what they are going to do.

Newsflash!!!!!!!!! This is a FORUM. Meaning those who choose to participate in discussion may express their opinion, and do so without people who DONT understand the concept of a message board butting in. Like you.

We're getting tricky, folks. We're going to show one look and play another. We've brought in hybrid players everywhere so that defenses won't know what we're running from the personnel on the field. Henne's being asked to work on his mobility, play fake and shotgun so we can vary his output more. We are going to run the ball too, but I believe it'll mainly be so that defenses can't rule out running plays when we show them and we actually pass.

So I don't think we can safely predict our offense is going to look like ANYTHING, because I believe it's going to look like EVERYTHING. Nolan and Daboll complement each other well in that respect.

great post.

colombo and carey arent offensive lineman because they struggled in one preseason game? give me a break.
no, Colombo isn't an offensive lineman because he has always sucked. he is a liability. Carey hasn't been right since the injury. optimism is good I suppose, but at least be a little realistic. the o-line is clearly a problem. there's no denying it.

Oh excuse me marshall, next time il make sure to say "I think" or "imo". Its a fine line to pick at bro.

Obviously it cant be a fact because im not in the FO, but search the boards and see how many "facts" you will find that are actually opinions.

Well go post your "facts" in a thread with other ppl who post fake facts :), just keep my threads clean of it, thanks.

Honestly could care less if we ever ran the ball this year or any future years. The NFL is at a stage now where the running game is almost a ghost already. Spread offenses, 5 wide and short passes to backs out of the backfield, thats the NFL. Adrian Peterson type runners do not grow on trees. NFL defenses are bigger, faster and a heck of a lot smarter then they were even 5 years ago.

There is an age old debate in that a good passing game opens up the running game and visa versa. More and more these days teams are flinging the ball around all game long. Used to love pounding the football but in reality, not many teams are capable of doing it anymore.

This offense is geared to gain yardage thru the air and outside.

Just win baby, I could give two craps how they do it.

Not to be rude but If you think we're gonna be run first this year, your nuts, plain and simple. Why did you ignore all of the direct quotes that state we will open the offense up, and give Henne more control? If they open it up, it will be a balanced offense at the very most, if not slighted towards the pass for the majority. And also, if they're giving Henne more control that means they have placed a sort of confidence in our QB that hasnt been "allowed" here in quite some time.

If anything, the cutting of LJ and thus, the lack of a between the tackles runner screams anything but run-first. If you honestly think we are going into the season with a rookie 2nd rounder as the focal point of our offense, then you must be petrified for MNF, I would be.

But since I think we will be very similar to an offense like the Packers, or Patsies, that meaning lots of quick slants and screens and abusing the mismatches that our slash players present and get guys in space, I am actually pretty confident looking into Monday night.

i gotta be nuts, i mean we did trade for an ex first round running back still in his prime reggie bush and also drafted another runnning back in the 2nd round of this years draft, i have to be nuts =/.

Oh, you mean the first round RB that has more career rec yrds than rushing yrds? Yea definitely gonna be a run first team. Who cares if they ran spread all offseason/ preseason, they're gonna change it up Monday night and run the ball down BB's throat. Just like we did the past 9 million years. It worked then why not now?
Great reasoning. :rolleyes2:
