Why is everybody so quick 2 4get that tannehill was supposed to sit for 2-3 years

the chad henne thing again...look at ryan tannehills red zone efficiency td numbers vs chad hennes when he was here and tell me that these qbs are performing at the same level...

absolutely awful comparison...one guy never got the team in the end zone the other guy when he gets down there makes damn good at it...but that's not gonna fit the agenda so it's tossed out

You know shouright is nothing but a troll... he got what he wanted in an argument now he is pulling you in too! If you don't feed him he goes away.

let's not forget henne was a four year starter at michigan. tannehill had 19 starts at QB in college (i believe). the OP is absolutely correct, this board is full of knee jerk, what have you done for me yesterday, know nothings.

Or it's full of wishful thinking, biased homers, prone to confirmation bias. Who's to know?

This is why my position on the issue, personally, is that Tannehill's future is unknown and can't be known. What we do know about his present, however, is that he's playing below average.

tell me whats boneheaded at end of games??? he's lead game tying game winning or game clinching drives in the 4th quarter vs cleveland indy atlanta and cinci...all 4 of our wins the qb made plays in the 4th quarter...

oh you mean get sacked in the 2 minute when the pocket collapses...well short of levitating there's not much he could do with many of those...i guess that's what you mean by excuses

Jets overtime game last year, we were already in field goal range to win and all we needed was to not turn it over and hopefully pick up a few extra yards to make the kick easier. He audibles out of the nice safe running play Sherman called to throw it deep to Hartline, it was completely unnecessary because all we needed TO WIN was points, any points.

He did something similar this season when everybody was on Sherman's jock about a horrible play call at the end of a game until it came out that Tannehill was the one that changed the play once again.

Monday's game Tampa is exchanging personnel at will WHILE we're supposedly IN A HURRY UP. No team would have the balls to try that with Tom Brady.

Other times I find myself screaming "WILL YOU HURRY THE **** UP" both at the end of games and in situations where the defense is unprepared or if the previous play was close enough to be challenged.

Its not Henne-like, Tannehill definitely shows he has a sense of urgency and always makes a valiant attempt to keep the game alive right at the end, where Henne would throw it away on 4th down to avoid a sack or something. But there is something missing and maybe its just inexperience or maybe the coaches have him too handcuffed. All I know is one bad decision like that a season is unacceptable for an elite QB, hopefully he grows out of it.

Why judge him now? Because in the NFL the now is all that matters. To paraphrase a famous economist: the short term is all that matters, in the long term we'll all be dead.

Fumble against Buffalo?

As driven by quarterback play as this league is, and as short a leash as most GMs and head coaches have, quarterbacks who are thought to have "potential" but who are not showing it quickly enough will be treated as though they're failures.

I just don't know anymore. I think Tanny has all the tools to succeed given time. Again like the OP said he was supposed to be a project not start right away. If Tannehill comes out and doesn't put up Tom Brady or Peyton Manning like numbers we call him a bust or he sucks. After 24 games (He didn't play that Jets game) we are writing him off? Sh** I'm glad tons of you are not GM's or we would have a new team every year instead of developing somewhat. Were people just like "Oh top ten QB, he has to be amazing right now." I don't get it.

IMO it's kind of a pointless argument. He is getting 7 more games this season to show what he can do. And I will be absolutely stunned if he doesn't get year three. Jake Locker got year three and he showed absolutely nothing the first two years. Christian Ponder got year three and he is ****ing awful.

Locker, kind of surprisingly, actually made a huge leap this year. Sucks for the Titans that he got hurt but he really showed a lot in those first few games.

What I'm saying, personally, is that: 1) we don't know what he's going to be long-term, 2) he's playing below average currently, and 3) his current play isn't the fault of any other part of the team or organization.

That hole crap about having to sit for 3 or 4 years doesn't exist anymore, especially when the QB's in front of you are Matt Moore and the mummified remains of David Garrard.

And there are few if any teams that have the luxury of needing to draft a QB in the first round, while at the same time having an adequate enough starting QB to allow the one drafted in the first round to sit around for years.

Fumble against Buffalo?

oh you mean the hit on his throwing arm when he's stepping up vs immediate pressure from both sides and mario williams knocks the ball out...yeah i guess thats an excuse also
