Why Ryan Cook vs....

Hey guys. Im Dave. Friendly Vikings fan here. Anyways, I registered here just to talk to you about Ryan Cook. I'm really sorry for you guys. He is my least favorite Vikings player of all time. If you think Columbo is a turnstile, you will really get sick of Cook quickly. You guys have better depth than us at OL, and he still didn't survive. Not even after a 2 year contract. He really isn't versatile. That's the biggest myth I've ever heard. They say that because we played him at Center, Guard, and Tackle. He started at all 3 positions for us. And was by far the worst starting lineman in the entire NFL. He's awful at all 3. I hope you aren't planning on starting him at any point, because he will get your players hurt. Bottom line, he is a liability. I'm not saying this to troll. I really respect the Dolphins team and it's fans. If you guys have any questions about him, I would be more than glad to answer them for you. I've seen every single game that this guy has ever played in at the professional level.
Now we know why they signed him.

Thank you for your objective opinion. Maybe this is more a criticism of position flexibility than of the player.

Cook was originally drafted by the Vikings in 2006 in the second round – using a pick acquired from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Daunte Culpepper. And now Cook himself has gone to the Dolphins. Cosmic.

Looks like we got our draft pick back

That's for the info and good luck this year.

You're welcome and good luck to you guys too! Always liked the Dolphins. And they have an awesome fan base. I didn't want to seem like a troll. I just saw that lots of guys here were talking about him being a "young, versatile guy". And borderline starter material. That's the same stuff that we heard for years in Minnesota. And his play just never lived up to the hype. It was actually the opposite. He has earned the nickname "Concrete Feet" with a lot of our fans. He is actually a natural center. Center is the only position that I would consider him to be serviceable. At Guard and Tackle, he is just a liability. He is also an absolute penalty machine. His bad play was one thing, but the constant penalties drove me completely insane for years.

Cook is younger and basically still has upside in this league and can play basically any place on the o-line.... while mckinnie is a fat slob who got abused last year and got #4 of the vikings almost killed many times.

And the common thread? They both blow

Interesting. Perhaps he's brought in more as a backup, then?

Awful signing if you're spot on...

When a player is released from another team there are always negatives and flaws in said player. If you think Waters, O'Hara or Cook were going to be star players, you are wrong. Doesn't mean they can't help a new team, it just means that these guys are not perfect. Waters is not perfect, and neither is Cook. However, both do have positives and will help their new teams.

Of course fans of the former team are only going to zero on the negatives, that is just how it works. Cook is not walking into Miami as a starter, he is coming in as depth and someone who could step in at almost any position on the line. It is not ideal that he starts, but he could in a pinch.

Waters would shake up the rotation at the last minute by starting, and the other two would bring bad energy into the clubhouse. Makes perfect sense if you take time to think about it.
