Because they don't want to replace any of their current starters. That would make their talent evaluation look bad.

Cook is a guy they coveted prior to the draft he was in. He can play all the positions on the line like Garner. Position flexibility is what you get and he is younger (28). And he has started considerably more games than any of the Dolphin backups including Garner and Berger, who was cut for him. I actually like this move.

Ryan Cook is a decent younger OL. He can play guard or tackle. From what I've read it was considered a surprise when the Vikings released him.

alot of flexible guys that cant play any position to a high level. Also the guy was drafted in 2006 so how u figure they coveted him

We need to sign more qbs because Marc turnstile Columbo going to get our qbs destroyed...

I think flexibility is good..................But very good starter like gurode or mc kinie would have been........... are very better JMO

I have been following Dolphin drafts for a long time. I recall his name well, and he was evaluated intently by the Dolphins. I see your point in that Tony and company were not in Miami. Let us just say that his position flexibility appealed to any team that liked that quality. He was drafted by the Vikes, and they used him along the line during his time there. I suppose I could research what Dallas thought of Cook and reinforce my notion. But let us just say I am not shocked they like him given his history.

Maybe Gurode Waters and McKinnie didn't want to play here? Pricey as well.

Wasn't Ryan Cook a draft pick we traded away?

Hey guys. Im Dave. Friendly Vikings fan here. Anyways, I registered here just to talk to you about Ryan Cook. I'm really sorry for you guys. He is my least favorite Vikings player of all time. If you think Columbo is a turnstile, you will really get sick of Cook quickly. You guys have better depth than us at OL, and he still didn't survive. Not even after a 2 year contract. He really isn't versatile. That's the biggest myth I've ever heard. They say that because we played him at Center, Guard, and Tackle. He started at all 3 positions for us. And was by far the worst starting lineman in the entire NFL. He's awful at all 3. I hope you aren't planning on starting him at any point, because he will get your players hurt. Bottom line, he is a liability. I'm not saying this to troll. I really respect the Dolphins team and it's fans. If you guys have any questions about him, I would be more than glad to answer them for you. I've seen every single game that this guy has ever played in at the professional level.

They were all taken by the time Murtha went down. With the exception of maybe Waters, who got picked up same day or very close to it. And he is a servicable backup/ starter quality, probably teeters on the edge. We are not moving any staretrs around 5 days before our opening night against a division rival, so those who are still praying for it, dont hold your breath.

TS has made it clear that these are his guys, he likes them, see no reason to hit the panic button yet, and is gonna give them time to gel. I have no choice but to have faith in the guys that know more than me, so I will back them 100%. I'm so f*cking amped for NE I cant stand it, gonna be there screaming my *** off.

EDIT: not gonna lie, this guy above me is making me rethink pretty quickly. At least we got Rosario! lol

Cook was originally drafted by the Vikings in 2006 in the second round – using a pick acquired from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Daunte Culpepper. And now Cook himself has gone to the Dolphins. Cosmic.
