that too. but its prob also best available guy who is "versatile". If Berger is indeed on IR or put there, I wonder what his injury is then. Does he come back week 6?
How much did Gurode sign with the Ravens for? I know these guys didnt want to replace any starters but why wouldnt u bring in an exp PROBOLWER to this struggling line? Even if he doesnt beat anyone out, it wouldnt hurt to keep him on the team!!!

So who would you have taken at that point? Its funny how people judge without being in ones shoes.
Oh yeah, take the big name, as if they hadnt already investigated the dudes. They pay many scouts and others to find out this stuff.
Money, timing, long-term, and how they fit usually comes into play.
I just wonder if NE would have taken Waters would it be they were not in a desperate situation. But hey, NE is great and we suck. Enjoy your season. Im sure we can count on you to cry cry cry some more.

They've done their "due diligence" on the o-line for four years. I'm not judging willy nilly. They have a history, a pattern, a modus operandi.
I would have gone with Gurode because Pouncey isn't strong enough yet to handle the C position. He could have learned from Gurode, while playing G and moving Chunk back out to T.
Our line might have had a chance to be respectable. Thats my opinion ... I don't think that's crying. That's what these forums are for. Expressing opinion and debating them.
But, so instead we bring in two losers ... I'm sorry we may be just fans, but some of us can tell loser and mediocre (at best) when we see it.
The right side of this line is a disaster. It doesn't take a professionally trained eye to see that.
Why in the world would we bring in another worthless bum who failed in another poor line?
Answer: IMHO - Because the o-line guru has boxed himself in a corner with his poor handling of FA's and draft picks and is a. too hardheaded to admit it and is b. desperate to hide it.
If we go without challenging them, they can continue to field inferior products for decades to come.

Gurode is better, even a step slower than Columbo or Cook.
Dallas cut him for the money & No ... I've lost all confidence in the oline decision making of the guru. And finally, I'm against Dallas scrubs not against Dallas players.

Some people just live in the past and get their rocks off criticizing others. There are a lot of Cook-haters in Minnesota, but I think the Dolphins have just offered him a fresh start that will pay off. He was drafted by Childress and never really given the kind of coaching he needed to transition from college center to NFL tackle. It was a huge leap, he was kind of thrust into it, had a lot to learn, so he had a couple bad years.
Last season (when the OLine was fighting injuries) Ryan played quite a bit and most agree he did a solid job covering in a variety of roles. Many's the time I watched Adrian Peterson break one for big yards through a hole Cook helped create. He got a lot of penalties in 2007 and 8, but barely any last year. Excellent pre-season this year. So, why'd he get cut? The Vikes said they didn't get rid of him because of poor performance, and, since the Dolphins picked him up without hesitation, they must see some potential there. I personally thought he had likely beat out Herrera for the starting position at RG. He was certainly playing better than Herrera.
If he's allowed opportunities to prove himself in Miami, at Center and Guard, I don't think he'll disappoint. He's smart, dedicated, never been injured, by all accounts, a good team mate on and off the field, and hungry for a second chance. That's my read on the situation, contrary to the Cook haters. Minnesota fans need to find a new whipping post.

WOW. You lost all credibility after saying that he would have beat out Herrera for the starting position. Are you high? And he definitely got cut because of poor play. Why else would you sign somebody to a new contract and cut them 2 weeks later? That makes absolutely no sense. "Most would agree that he did a solid job"...What? You do not at all speak for Vikings fans. Go read the Ryan Cook topic on the Vikings board. He has ONE member that still supports him, out of over 10,000. If you honestly believe that he was better than Herrera, or opened up countless holes for AP, you have obviously never watched a Vikings game.

You are correct sir. I think Ryan Cook got butt-hurt and made an account here to stick up for himself. Nothing that guy said was accurate AT ALL. The guy that beat him out for back-up guard got cut as well. He is now on our practice team (Chris DeGeare). Ryan Cook was the worst run blocker on our team. He never opened up anything for Adrian Peterson. If anyone did, it was Herrera. Herrera can actually pull. I don't think Cook even knows that term. He is dumber than a box of rocks. He complained that Brad Childress's playbook was too complex for blocking schemes. He isn't smart or hard-working as the guy above me posted. He is fat, lazy, and stupid. He couldn't beat out practice team guards, let alone our starter.
