Mullett,
I didn't follow the Vikings in 2007 or 08, but I watched every game last season and every game this preseason. I think I saw things you didn't because you're so critical of Cook, based on impressions formed of him early on, that you can't imagine him doing anything right.
I'm of the opinion that Cook outplayed Herrera this preseason and, if he hadn't been cut, he would've taken Herrera's starting position this season. (BTW, lots of people posted surprise on the discussion forums when Cook was cut.) I think Frazier wanted to clean out the Childress leftovers, for one. I think he's building for the future, for another thing, and, bottom line, he wants to give his draft picks a chance to prove themselves so he can build for the future (on the cheap).
There are any number of reasons players get cut other than poor performance (especially when there's a regime change). Last season, on a number of occasions, when Cook was filling in for someone, and AP broke one for big yardage, I hit replay and, lo and behold, he had run right off Cook's heels. I happen to know the guy. He is quite intelligent (enough to learn plays well enough to be ready to cover anywhere on the OLine any given Sunday. Give that a try, Mullett.) He's got five years of NFL experience, he's never been injured, and, after years of the kind of crap people like you dish out, he's definitely ready to prove himself (not that he's motivated by naysayers. He doesn't even read this stuff, but I do and it pisses me off.) So shut up and go back to your regular Vikings discussion board and stop trying to make yourself feel so damned important by running him down. I came here because I figured people like you would show up and try to poison the well for him in Miami. I just hope the fans can see through your obvious need to feel knowledgeable and authoritative and give the guy an honest chance. He's a quality individual and I think his best days are ahead. Peace out.
