Why the "Fireland" crowd is just not getting it.

And I understand what your saying. My overall preference is to not be mediocre and continue with the same staff and mindset. Go 8-8, no playoffs, MAYBE Ross pulls his head out of his ass and see the common denominator over the last 5 years is Ireland and does something about it. What I fear is we go 9-7, squeak in to the playoffs, only to lose to Cincy in a rematch and have Ross think...."well, our record indicates we were a little better, lets stay the course".

IMO, nothing ever gets better by 'staying the course'....

And again, my issues with Ireland fall squarely in Free Agency, he has been horrendous in FA and deciding who to spend money on. Drafts he's been middling to okay, but if he gets the checkbook this year again, I fear more 'injury acorns', or overpaying aging veterans and/or bringing in guys who don't fit what this team needs.
I like Wallace, but, he's what in the top-10 highest paid non-QB's in the league? Does ANYONE think he's worth THAT much money?

It's true, the NFL has made it very hard to have a balanced roster from purely drafted players. I'm hoping that we get in the playoffs and run the table plain and simple.

Oh sure, we aren't passing for 1000 more yards this year. We don't have twice as many passing TDs and less ints. Jesus, what's with people like you? You can't be happy for the progress we made this year against a tougher schedule.

See other reply. More TDs, less picks, more points per game. Our OL sucks, no lie, but everything else is much better. Running will improve with OL.
Never said we didn't make any progress, but the crap you are spewing that the Ravens are the same team they were last year is pure garbage.

Ummm. I believe the reason why we threw for more yards this year than last is because by the time this season is over, we will had thrown right around 80 more passes. At 6.8 yards per attempt ( our average- same as last year mind you) thats roughly 550 yards, plus the additional yardage lost due to sacks. Where are you finding this 1,000 yards above last season?

Maybe if Indy, cinci, or the pats win the Super Bowl, we can all sit around and make threads about the successful season because we beat the eventual Super Bowl champs. I can't wait.:woot:

Well I for one would certainly like the chance to do it in the playoffs. Apparently you want us to lose so we can fire Ireland. for you, the ends justifies the means. I say, NO!

This crap is once we are done! Not now! Its the same crap every time we lose. Fireland! What does that have to do with making the playoffs at this point?

If we fire Ireland, we might as well fire them all and start the whole damn process all over again! Yeah, great Idea!

By you quoting a statement i made that had nothing to do with Ireland shows you're not paying attention. Are you the one thats been asking every other day what the playoff scenarios were? It wouldn't surprise me. Pay attention rice dick, I would love to make the playoffs, but ALSO love to fire Ireland. Highlight words "make the playoffs" and "also fire Ireland" into your overused brain.

ok phinmagic just called me a dick. cmon language police! you better do something!!

I got treated better by bills fans yesterday!

I didn't call you as a person a dick, I'm sure you're a lovely individual. I'm merely pointing out a fact that John Martin posted on his twitter about you.

Ya Ireland has some real nice pieces on that O Line...

Huh? You better hope Tannehill is alive for TC next year

Well aside from the fact that everything rides on this week, we lose and were done which obviously wasn't the case this past week thankfully. If we win there is a good chance that were playing January football, something that 20 teams were wishing they were doing. We have had success against Rex, we are 6-3 vs him.

The game against Buffalo was more meaningful for a couple of reasons. First, winning that game meant that we'd still control our own destiny and not have to rely on any other team doing anything to get into the playoffs. Second, we still had the possibility, although slight, of a first round bye and second seed. With all that on the line, we came out of the gate with nothing and finished the same way. It wasn't just a bad performance with all that on the line; it was a pathetic performance, the kind that will stick with you long after the rest of this season fades from memory.

To say that they look like morons would be unkind to morons.

Look at the Dolphin's record right now, they are better than last year.

Look at the OTHER TEAMS with that SAME RECORD.

Don't the Ravens also share that record?

NO GM drafts perfect every year, most do not even come close. It's easy to 2nd guess every single tiny little move AFTER you've seen how everything has played out.

especially since the geniuses here telling us we need to get rid of guy when they themselves dont even put themselves out there to show the rest of us nubnuts who we should draft? They mention it a year later!!!
Great! awesome, you make me so much smarter!!!! NOT.

I'm not an NFL talent evaluator who is paid millions of dollars annually to perform that job. However, if you ever bothered to read the Draft forum here, you'd see plenty of posters (most of whom who advocate for the GM to be canned) who do post in-depth thoughts on a number of NFL draft prospects.

With all due respect, and I do mean with all due respect.. If we go on to play in the Super Bowl or lose in the Wild Card round I highly doubt that late season loss at Buffalo will remain engrained in anyone's memory forever. I'm not disputing the fact that last week was huge and since we blew it makes this week even bigger, in my opinion at least.

I'm hoping, as should every Dolphins fan, for Philbin and Co. to put it all together now and make a historical run.

At this point be a fan, crank up the Jimmy Buffett and kick back a few Stellas and cheer on our guys.

I guess my conclusion is simply this: We are LITERALLY 1 LB, a few OL, and maybe a FB away from having a completly, 100% solid football team - FINALLY, after years of "blowing it up trying again, blowing it up trying again, half blowing it up, half trying again etc etc etc" - FINALLY, FINALLY, we are a few players away, and people want to bring in a GM, who may or may not like tanney, may or may not like philbin etc??? why would we do that again? we either strike GOLD with some new GM, or more likely, we wait another 3-5 years just to SEE if MAYBE this one pans out - no, im sorry ONE MORE YEAR of PHILBIN/IRELAND/TANNEY - they get that - like everyone else does in this league. Just calm down.
.

No we are not, we also need 2 DT's that can fill gaps and stop the run, and 4 (not a few) FOUR OL away from having a complete team!!!
