Why the "Fireland" crowd is just not getting it.

Why is there so many threads about this same topic. Or threads of fans calling out other fans.. If Ireland is getting canned (which he probably won't) it won't be until the offseason, our Dolphins are in the midst of playing the most meaningful regular season game since week 17 of '08, let things play out and we need to be behind them 1000% along the way.

With that said, LETS GO DOLPHINS.

I think Ireland is average and that we could do a lot worse. The way I see it, A great QB hides a lot of weaknesses and can basically WIN with an average GM. Right now, I think Philbin is also average with room to grow since its only its second year. So I really think we can WIN with this group eventually.... Now I wish its sooner rather than later, I'd give em another year, if we still look middle pack after next season, don't half ass it, CAN EVERYONE! But for now, the fear is that we replace average by below average or even flat out trash, which is a strong possibility in today's NFL. There are no bonafide replacement right now and it will be a shot in the dark.

I've said it before and I'll say it again here.....Everyone from Ireland on down has to go. What innovative or even good game plan has come from either our OC or DC? I say none. Our HC inspires no one. Our GMs drafts are an exercise in futility.

Ross needs to blow it up and try again. We have some talent on this team but not anywhere near enough.....And Ireland hasn't shown he's capable of finishing the job. The only positive going into next season is we have 30 million to spend on FAs.

Ireland is a genius immediately following a win, and a dunce after a loss. You don't need to be Miss Cleo to know what posts will be made by our bipolar fanbase the day after a game.

Show of hands, how many people have ever believed Ireland was a genius? Anybody? I highly doubt anyone thinks that dumb ass is any bit of the word and if there is anyone, you should look yourself in the mirror and slap yourself.

This past week was pretty meaningful. How is this week as meaningful, when we don't even control our own destiny?

I think that if anyone on this board honestly thinks Jeff Ireland is the man to fix this OL -- after Jake Grove and Justin Smiley and Tyson Clabo and John Jerry and Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin....

... then God help us all. Because Steve Ross might be dumb enough to feel that way, too.

The funny thing is, the only three players on that list who were good players when not hurt or getting in trouble for doing stupid crap (Grove, Smiley, and Incognito) were brought in by Parcells by their logic.

For those of you who do not like this topic, you just don't get it. Many of us are very bright, lifelong, football fans. However, we don't need to be, as anybody off the street would know that ireland is terrible at his job!!!!
Every year whatever the general consensus this board has about the Dolphins roster is flat out true. This year before the season started the whole world knew the dolphins line was terrible, we were not proved wrong. Before the year started we thought the change of guard at linebacker seemed strange. Cue Disaster! We all thought we had more talent then the Bills and Jets and that is true, but the players missing at key positions we all knew we needed are the problem.
Whenever Jeff targets a specific area of need he flat out fails. He only seems to do well when he drafts or picks a free agent that the media already announced would be a good fit for the Dolphins.
You know what this tells me? The guy has no real football knowledge. He is lucky to have his job and probably made it this far knowing the right people to suck-up too.

So in conclusion for those who don't understand the FIRELAND movement. He has to go for us to get better, its just that simple. I like Philbin and i believe Tannehill can be the real thing thats why more then ever i want Jeff gone, its time for a new Dolphins era of greatness.

Well aside from the fact that everything rides on this week, we lose and were done which obviously wasn't the case this past week thankfully. If we win there is a good chance that were playing January football, something that 20 teams were wishing they were doing. We have had success against Rex, we are 6-3 vs him.

Meaningful games in December suck, don't they? We have had so many of them in the past 12 years. Enjoy these when they happen.

As much as I would enjoy a 62-7 finish to a legitimately good team.

Making the playoffs this way, would be like being the 8th seed in the NBA. Yay, we only suck a little, lets get our asses handed to us by a good team on national television.

Don't forget all the other playoff debacles the past 2 decades. Atleast someone here understands what this team is about.

Just for banter.. We have already defeated the Colts, Bengals and Patriots. The Chiefs are beatable and I'm sure those 4 teams are dreading facing Denver as would we. I understand your argument but hands down, I personally prefer losing in the playoffs over going 6-10 or 7-9 or 1-15.

Maybe if Indy, cinci, or the pats win the Super Bowl, we can all sit around and make threads about the successful season because we beat the eventual Super Bowl champs. I can't wait.:woot:

And I understand what your saying. My overall preference is to not be mediocre and continue with the same staff and mindset. Go 8-8, no playoffs, MAYBE Ross pulls his head out of his ass and see the common denominator over the last 5 years is Ireland and does something about it. What I fear is we go 9-7, squeak in to the playoffs, only to lose to Cincy in a rematch and have Ross think...."well, our record indicates we were a little better, lets stay the course".

IMO, nothing ever gets better by 'staying the course'....

And again, my issues with Ireland fall squarely in Free Agency, he has been horrendous in FA and deciding who to spend money on. Drafts he's been middling to okay, but if he gets the checkbook this year again, I fear more 'injury acorns', or overpaying aging veterans and/or bringing in guys who don't fit what this team needs.
I like Wallace, but, he's what in the top-10 highest paid non-QB's in the league? Does ANYONE think he's worth THAT much money?

Haha. So you would only prefer to make the postseason if we are, say... 11-5 or 12-4 or better? Not understanding this, I feel I'm missing something. Goal number 1 is to make the playoffs and goal number 2 is to win the super bowl, it's always been pretty cut and dry. Please tell me what I'm missing.
